Now I've seen it all (Drivers behaving badly)
I thought I've seen them all - people putting on makeup, texting, reading the paper, but this takes the cake: reading a book, a f'in book!
![]() As a result, she leaves 3 car gaps in stop and go traffic. Mods, if there's a thread for all "drivers behaving badly", I apologize. Couldn't find one. |

A few years ago I thought I had seen it all as well. Once again a woman eating a grinder, with some kind of drink on top of the dash and also on the phone all at the same time. I kid you not.

No end to it...
Worst I have seen? One guy was reading a thick document while driving around 70 kmh, weaving and erratic. Next light I honked and suggested firmly but politely that he pay attention to driving for the safety of us all....to which he responded with a screaming tirade encompassing sex and travel and a serious attempt to ram me. Second was a girl who was doing mascara/eye work on a 100kmh road...needless to say weaving and erratic. Third was a lady who was obviously paying some serious attention to her lady parts, with brief looks up, crossed lane divider repeatedly, big gaps all around and the flying finger to anyone who honked at her. Can't figure it out....people can be so stupid. Dennis |

I commute on my MC and as a result I've gotten very good at spotting readers, texters, eaters etc. Some stunning idiocy out there.

I have never done it but phoning in the licence plate to the police might fix it.

For a while I was shooting pics of drivers behaving badly. I'd spot them going down the road and then shoot the pic at the next light.
![]() Then there's this stupidity: ![]() Going the wrong way on a two way street, parked in a no parking fire lane, AND blocking a hydrant! Great example for the teens in my community!

I don't find that as too bad of behavior, I leave several car lengths in stop and go, and try to make sure I don't drop below first gear idle at all. This changes it from stop and go, to slow and go. It is amazing though the amount of cars that will gesture in frustration, blaze around when they can, rapidly into the gap with a gesture of frustration at how slow I am, only to slam on the brakes for the stopped car again...congratulations, you just saved half a second off of where you were going.

I used to see driver's doing what is posted in the original post all the time during my commutes home on the 405.
Never ceased to amaze me that traffic was slow for no other reason than these people not paying attention to driving. I thought I'd miss my drive time when I got laid off. Now I really hate getting on the freeway for any reason other than to get out of town.

A guy driving while playing a flute using both hands for several miles. I guess using his knee to steer.

the best i've seen so far: a guy using an electric shaver with one hand and holding a grande coffee in the other hand, all the while looking at his own mug in the mirror of the sunshade, at 70+ MPH. kid you not.

Only been riding a fraction of the years some of you "more seasoned" riders have (7 years). But in that time I've seen some janky stuff. Applying makeup, texting, eating, holding the phone on speaker (hint - thats not hands-free), couples having arguments and fighting - verbally and physically, girls dancing while driving, and most recently: openeing a door as i'm coming through the lane.
All sorts of unattentive drivers out there. Be careful. They just don't care until it's too late.

It's for instances like these that I would like to have one of those really, REALLY obnoxiously loud train horns on my car.

my buddy was driving some long lonely road in the south and passed a guy lounging in the passenger seat on cruise control and steering with his foot

In Australia there is no law about slowing as you pass a bus just stopped at a bus stop, yet I do just in case some kid exits the bus then bolts across the road in front of me. Most drivers "get it" and slow also, but there's still the odd one following me that just completely decompensates at the prospect of having to slow below 60 km/hr (40 mph) for 10 seconds on a suburban street.
It's not the finger I get that worries me, it's that they have no idea WHY I slowed........ |

The main point is the distracted driving, not the gap. She is reading a book. Nothing wrong with that either if she was a passenger.
Although in this case, I would argue that she is holding up traffic as well. This was after two freeways merge, so moving a bit faster is necessary to reduce the bottleneck effect. |

another favorite of mine is the motorcyclists that are texting on the freeway, in traffic, at freeway speeds.
