I found $4 in change and a bucks worth of Canadian Tire money in the car I picked up today. Is that enough for a down on that car? :)

The targa bar looks right! They did a nice job including such a retro piece and the proper shape opening.

I would imagine the fact that there is / was a long wait for this model keeps the price up, even though it is "used" now.

It amazes me how much this costs new. I like it, but for that kind of money, I would buy something else, just like K predicted ... :)

I sold a 79 Turbo for a good customer of the shop I used to work at, over the last week. Of course had to drive it to offer perspective to prospective buyers. Obviously two different cars but I suspect I would prefer the Turbo for somewhat similar money.

Only one of the two will appreciate. But not so good for a daily driver.

Living vicariously through you Richard. I don't have that kind of money even in the pressed pants hanging inside my closet. :) You go!

The Turbo was fine actually, pretty docile out and about. And you are talking to a man who contorts getting in and pulls/crawls out of a fixed back bucket in the 84, a few times a day. :D.

We should start timesharing cars here, for $2400 each 52 of us could share that car, one week a year, for say 10 years, then sell and roll into the next car? $240 a year for a week rental in a 991 Targa? Hell yeah!

mikester 10-14-2014 07:33 PM

Yeah, that's pretty sweet except for the auto thing. I know autos have come a long way and it probably is a blast to drive but I love my manual Cayman.

whew...got it quoted. Never know when I'll need to use it against you. HA!! :p

;)

Regarding the car...anyone remember Grady talking about which new 911 he would buy and own long term? I think it was a 997, fairly stripped, manual, no a/c, etc..
While this one isn't quite bare-bones, this could be a car to own long term and drive the snot out of it.

Although I have no personal experience with them, I understand that the PDK transmission has little in common with a conventional automatic. Twin-clutch boxes are an entirely different animal.

I saw a new Targa during Monterey Car Week at Retro Auto...looks awesome in person.

Sold today and the new owner traded a 2007 997 S Cabriolet with 33K miles

Actually had two prospective buyers wanting it at the same time. The one who missed out was an unhappy camper. It's funny how things work.
