That double play was the difference in the whole world series. Amazing play by Panik. Some day when ESPN does a little story on the most important double plays ever turned, that one will be on top of the list, mainly because of how difficult it was.
BTW, using Bumgarner like that is almost unfair. Best WS pitching performance ever. ![]()

Nice to see the Giants do so much with "so little" in the eyes of the media and most other fans.
They were never picked to even make the post-season. I've been a Giants fan since I was little boy in t-ball. I liked the fact that both SF and KC were Wild Card winners. Quote:

Thank you, KC for putting up a great fight. Best of luck next year. Since the Giants will miss the playoffs next year (That's our tradition) I will be pulling for you. Maybe you can beat the Dodgers for us. Then we'll be back in '16.

Bumgarner had a great series, and that was a pretty exciting, closely contested game. I watched the first game at my buddy's house, but have not followed baseball at all since they cancelled the season and the World Series because of the strike. I watched a couple of games at home, couple at my parents. That look that Posey gave him while the last pop up was in the air was pretty cool
KC's coach needs to get that thing on his nose biopsied KT, my fist glove in little league was Bobby Bonds signature model.

By way of celebration for the Giants, but especially for the beauty and heart of the game itself... my favorite piece that says so much... posted this here in 2012... Brandon Crawford's story from kid to Giant... look at that face...
Watching the World Series?

Never followed natl league ball but I am surely a Sandoval fan now. That guy has such good form on defense. No sidearm balls tailing away, beautiful footwork....just great to watch.
Also thought the Posey look to Bumgarner as the popup was cresting was really special to see. Great, great game. Fun series. |

I really can't believe that the Giants beat a very good and hot Royals team. The Giants basically had one starting pitcher. One of their best pitchers Matt Cain was shut down half way through the season. Tim Lincecum was banished to the bullpen and then almost to obscurity. Angel Pagan their lead off hitter was out with a bad back. Buster Posey was a shell of himself at the plate. Joe Pannik was brought up three quarters through the season. How did they do it? Wow....just wow!

The Royals may not have won the series, but they sure have made it fun to watch baseball again in the fall!

Good fight by the Royals, I was pulling for them the whole way.
Unfortunately their swing at everything young catcher ended up with the game on his shoulders and predictably failed. That guy needs to learn some plate discipline. Personally I can't stand the Giants or Cardinals since I'm a Rangers fan. |

The neighbors we play pinochole with invited us up to watch the seventh; first game we've seen since.......well, this century. wtf with the 'further review'? The game isn't slow enough already?

This was a well pitched, well played series from both dugouts. In the end, the Giants were one run better than the Royals.
I have some friends who went to every game in KC, and they could not stop commenting on how gracious the Royals fans, and the whole city, were. Very classy, like turning the Kaufmann fountains orange last night, who does that anymore? You guys have the nucleus to be very good for a long time...enjoy! A couple of asides, Who was the dude that showed up to every game with behind the plate tickets...in Marlins gear? Kc has some hot female fans. Joe Panik solidified the Giants lineup and overall was one of the biggest reasons for their success. 5 months till spring training. |

Ahh, okay that makes sense.
As to the "further review", that is a step MLB is taking to improve the game. It is a first year deal, and it helped get calls right all year. Tedious, yes, but as with all things they will find ways to improve the process. Now if they would use it for balls and strikes... |

I haven't been a big baseball fan for years, but I have to say, this was a fun series. I am impressed with how the players comport themselves. Every time a football player manages to do something right they celebrate like it was new years eve. It's childish and tiresome to watch. I've about quit on the NFL, but I could watch players who behave like pros (like these guys) play on a regular basis.

I would have liked to see the 3rd base coach send Gordon home on the triple in the ninth. It looked like he would have been out but the giants needed to execute the relay and tag. I might have rolled the dice given Madbum on the mound.
When they brought in Madbum I thought it was a mistake but he performed great. Congrats to the Giants and I prefer no DH rule.

+1 on no DH, make the pitcher hit, and the manager manage.

It is definitely a much better game without the DH
Ha, before this series, I have not watched a game since they canceled the World Series due to strike back in the 90's

Childish is being kind. I pretty much have given up on football due to this. It's gotten so the only differences between an NFL game and the Ferguson riots is the uniforms and the bank accounts of the participants. Else it's just a bunch of idiots acting like morons who can't handle themselves. By contrast our own Nelson Cruz manages a huge game turning RBI in the playoffs and after getting on base he claps his hands twice and then focuses on the pitcher as he takes his lead. football has zero class left. it's a shame for those in the league that aren't morons.
