Good news from iTunes!
It's been "refined throughout" to make it purdier. That's what it's needed all along.

iTunes could be imporved upon so easily, it's even more frustrating that they can't/won't do it. Here's how:
- Make it so that if I want to delete a song from my library, it's gone forever and removed from my phone the next time it synchs. - Make it so that if I want to purchase a song that's already in my library, it tells me it's already there and asks if I'm sure. Currently it does this sometimes and doesn't always catch duplicates. I have several live and studio versions of the same songs and sometimes forget which or can't find it because I didn't spell it correctly or, as happened last week, forgot to add the "(Oh)" in the title when searching for "Pretty Woman." - Don't ask me security questions I never set up, like "What's your favorote sports team?" when I would never have used such a question, as I don't follow sports and have no favorite team. I'm locked out of my account now because of this. - Have a "What would you like to do?" tab prominent on every page in iTunes. How hard is this? Why does it always take me hours to do anything in iTunes?

Eh, both MS and Apple are OK companies that both have some OK products... I just hate proprietary and a lack of open standards and open implementations, esp. when copyright law is used to keep others from developing it.

I hate it too, I see AAPL as having less fleas than MSFT. I need to figure out Linux for the day that Aapl becomes like MSFT, then adios to both.

I-tunes will delete any music that is not bought on itunes, not all music just any randomness it deems unacceptable. It is a horrible platform for music storage other than that which was bought on itunes. and don't get me started with that U2 bS.

Nope, the OS X kernel is based on Mach which is a BSD based micro-kernel, and while it used to be Freely licensed it no longer is. A lot of the userland stuff down underneath the shiny is the various BSD utilities (w/ the BSD license) which are very similar to the GNU utilities (with the GPL v2 or v3 license) but hte GNU project had to re-implement everything due to copyright issues in the mid to late 80s. While the OS X kernel isn't open and available anymore, the userland stuff is and is referenced as Darwin if you want to go looking for it. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of useful things that can be done with Darwin that you can't do easier with Linux or one of the BSDs (depending on your licensing needs/wants/desires).

I have several beefs with iTunes. I have our main library on our iMac...
1) They change their thrice-damned interface seemingly every time I update. 2) Videos (specifically, DVD rips) get automatically added as "Home Movies", making them invisible to my AppleTVs. 3) "Homesharing" requires you to log into Apple. 'Nuff said. 4) Inexplicably slow connections to my AppleTVs. Sometimes no connection at all, requiring a restart of iTunes. 5) Absolutely horrible performance connecting with my Win8 laptop to the library. That said, I've never seen iTunes delete anything without my explicit say-so. Also, Google's little daemon that uploads my iTunes music library to my Google Play library is a definite plus. So I buy music on Amazon, dump it into iTunes, and listen to it on my cellphone and work computer using Google Play.

But I'm on a Mac for my day to day work. Simply got sick of dealing with security BS on MSFT. Apple interfaces feel clunky and restrictive. But I have to admit, buy MacBook pro is over 3 years old, and (knock on wood) the thing just keeps on trucking. Zero problems.

I would be happy if I could back up my iPhone to my computer without using iTunes. The best work-around I've found is to had a second user on my computer that the iPhone thinks is me. I log on as that user, back it up, and my "real" computer isn't fusked up in any way.
The problem is it iTunes makes something so simple so complicated.
