My MacBook Pro suffered the flaky WIFI issue after Yosemite. It would just randomly drop the connection. After a day of monitoring seemed the radio was fine, low level traffic like ping worked but not everything. SMC reset fixed it. I do want to find the people in Cupertino responsible for signing off on the new Finder Icon and kick them in the nuts. Effin terrible. Downright embarrassing. |
Well.. I need to download photoshop for some work... And damn if it didn't force me to migrate up to Yosemite! :( My install hung with 8 mins remaining overnight, but a reboot this morning and it reinstalled perfectly. Seems all my info is still here too! So far so good...

I removed Avast anti-virus, and that has helped a lot. But I'm still having issues. When using a web browser, either Safari or Chrome, it will hang up and I get the spinning beach ball. The box is totally unresponsive, and I can't even bring up force quit using keystrokes. Frees itself after about a minutes. Slowly plugging away at it.

Bring up Activity Monitor.
Sort descending on %CPU. See if a process is being a hog. Kill it. FYI, Each instance of Google Chrome Helper is an open browser window, they'll show Not Responding when they are idle but still suck resources. |
Done that. Nothing has the CPU pegged. I honestly don't think its a resource issue.
I changed settings in Chrome so that plugins are manually launched. |
