Looks like some possible evidence of her plane may have been spotted in a photograph taken in 2009, possibly showing part of an engine cowling and prop shaft. She'd be 126 years old now, so doubtful she's still alive.

Ric Gillespie, executive director of The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery, holds a scrap of airplane wreckage that he contends is consistent with a window patch on the Lockheed Electra that Amelia Earhart was flying when she disappeared in 1937.Joseph Kaczmarek/The Associated Press

So, they find a piece of metal that could have come from any airplane but they're pushing the hypothesis that it's from Earhart's plane. Sure, OK.

I was followed in an assignment by a female A-3 NFO who looked exactly like AE...no relation but she and I are still good friends.

That is all I have:cool:

Are you referring to the piece of metal that was discovered and ruled out or the underwater photo I was updating this old thread with?

Coconut crabs ate the man first as he was bloody and banged up. She tried to escape up a coconut tree, but they aren't called coconut crabs for nothing...

There was a solution.

Promising sonar image found late last year. Hopefully, they'll return this year with a camera equipped ROV.

Unfortunately, another case of Pareidolia. At least they know how to have fun with the disappointing results.

I'm sorry your Amelia Earhart news didn't come to much.

But I have good news for those who like the DB Cooper mystery https://news.yahoo.com/news/north-carolina-siblings-father-d-211936343.html

stevej37 11-28-2024 06:49 PM

^^^ I saw that one....Why would he bring back his parachute but leave the money along a river bed? They can't expect people to believe that...nice try.

Bill Douglas 11-28-2024 06:54 PM

Exactly!

In todays money it equals 1.2 million. And even Dr Evil will tell you that a million dollars is not that much these days.
