Diesel usually runs around the same price are premium unleaded, at least around here. It is a bit higher than that right at the moment, but not 35% more!

They may be getting raped on diesel prices, but man, that is a smokin' good deal on that turkey fryer.....

First, it isn't a "rate", since it isn't a percentage of the price. It is an excise tax and fixed per gallon. And the difference between gasoline and diesel at the Federal level is $0.06 per gallon ($0.184 vs. $0.244). At the state level it varies. in Texas, the state tax is $0.20 per gallon, diesel or gasoline.

So my combined gas tax is $0.384/gallon and diesel is $0.444/gallon.

See all of the taxes per gallon by state here:

Fuel taxes in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

20 states the diesel excise tax is higher than gas
13 state have the same excise tax for both.
17 states have lower diesel excise taxes than gas

Bugsinrugs could be right though, as I learned a few weeks back. Local taxing entities can add additional taxes in certain states, but not here in Texas, yet. It's something in the blender for this upcoming legislative session. I can't see it passing though.

And then you can pour the peanut oil into the truck afterwards.

I paid 3.67 this morning for diesel vs. 2.97 for regular and 3.19 for premium. That's a pretty hefty delta and this is the cheapest diesel station in a 10 mile radius. I really like my diesel, but I definitely am looking more favorable at gas driven cars and trucks right now, especially ones that drink the regular!

I paid $2.78 for 24 gals of regular for my 14 F150 (5.0L). I'm getting almost twice what my old 01 F150 (5.4L) was getting. Glad I got a gasser vs a diesel.
