laptop computer issue- help please
Toshiba laptop about 6 - 7 years old running Windows 7 and Google Chrome. Yesterday out of the blue Windows pushed some updates and now the computer won't turn off without hitting the power button. And when turning it on I get the system restore error which when used the computer powers up. I have run Security essentials, Spybot and a Malware program they are finding nothing. Do I have a hard drive going bad ? I have an external hard drive tucked away some where I suppose I better find it and back up my files. Any suggestions on what to try ?

Sounds more liked a corrupted update.
Back it up and do a system restore. |

Don't overwrite your last known good backup.
That said, I'm wondering why MS hasn't gotten perfect at updating. I've got a system at work that started with Debian 5 and is now running 7, just by pointing to the "stable" repositories and doing updates on a regular basis. No change in configurations, no change in user data. Imagine being able to start at Win2k and upgrade to XP and then 7 with no issues.... |
