Best comedy duo ever, considered a poll, but knew I'd forget someone

Best comedic pair ever, considering joint and independent work.

I go with Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner.

Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman, Gleason and Carney. I would get to thinking about it, and was sure I would leave out somebody, hence did not do a poll.

Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin were pretty funny as well.

When I was kid growing up in LA one of the TV stations played an Abbott and Costello movie every Saturday morning - my favorite.

Given the OP's criteria, joint and independent work, I'll go with his choices--Brooks & Reiner and Conway & Korman.

Though the others mentioned are funny, their humor was scripted. Both Brooks/Reiner and Conway/Korman would typically begin with a scripted routine and then take off on their own hilarious tangent. That, to me, is the true source of the best humor.

What qualifies as the best ever? Hard to say. It's like asking what's the best song ever made? Regardless, these two pair have supplied countless laughs for me.

they get my vote also. Mr. Tudball and Mrs Awhiggins are classic. Tim Conway would go off on tangents so all bets were off as to what would happen. Many of their outtakes which couldn't be shown at the time are hilarious.

I wouldn't consider them the best, but the Stillers had some funny material for the time.
