LA Auto Show

How is the LA Auto Show these days? Thinking about going early next week before people are off for Thanksgiving. Worth a punt for the sportscar crowd?

I made the mistake of going on the weekend the last time I went. Tough to get close to some of the nicer cars, bunch of the younger set taking group shots and "selfies" to post up on social media.

Assume anything you want to get close to is either roped-off or being mobbed by people who can't afford it.

The Chaparrals were known for their innovative aerodynamic designs, and the 2X is no different.

Described as a wing suit for the road, the driver lays down in it head first, arms and legs spread out towards the wheels where they steer the vehicle and adjust its aerodynamic profile. There's word yet on what type of safety systems are provided.

The car is powered by a beamed-energy propulsion system, which uses a laser to create shockwaves that are directed through a shroud that provides 900 hp worth of thrust, enabling 0-60 mph sprints of 1.5 seconds and a top speed of 240 mph --

The rest of you ...shhhhh!

It would be interesting but it's a no go for me. It brings back memories of when my dad used to take the whole family. I remember the new '55 Thunderbird in robin's egg blue at one of the first we went to.

I've never had a problem there with anything. All very accessible, but YMMV.

The second weekend isn't usually too bad. Everyone who was too excited went the first week and everyone else is camping or something on the Thanksgiving holiday.

I went today and yesterday (press & industry). Some cool stuff, but mostly model refreshes and derivatives. Nothing groundbreaking.
