Moving

So it's pretty official now, we're moving to SW Florida. I'm pretty excited - ready for a new challenge, hopefully more time to spend with my kids, more time doing what I like than what I'm doing now at work, newer bigger house (3 car garage, pool/spa for the kids) 10 min to the beach etc. I've been really stressed leading up to this, waking up in the middle of the night, etc, but it seems to be coming together now. Moving in Jan. Anyone down there?

I'm in Orlando area......moved here around 6-7 years ago from northeast ohio....best thing I've ever done......

onewhippedpuppy 11-30-2014 06:44 PM

Congrats! Sounds like you're moving for all of the right reasons.

Jim Richards 12-01-2014 01:52 AM

Congrats, Brian. It sounds like a great move.

id10t 12-01-2014 03:38 AM

Where in S. Florida exactly? It is like a whole different state compared to us here in N Florida...

bell 12-01-2014 03:57 AM

Thanks jim.......i wouldn't be a professional porsche wrench of things didn't happen as they did.......5 years into this gig now and love it

I really like the Sanibell island area, but it gets real desolate down near the alligator alley freeway. You'll have to keep an eye out for the tropical storms that come through occasionally.

URY914 12-01-2014 05:48 AM

It's traffic grid lock for about four months of the year in SW FL. :(

Congrats, I'm a little North of you on the East coast. I moved here from Michigan in 84 and I've never regretted it for a moment. Good luck!

P.S. Moving sucks........unless it's to a warm climate:)

Thanks guys. Naples, id10t. Guess I'll have to start looking for a boat (kidding). Yep, we've gone from NE Ohio to VA to SW Fla now. My wife said this is as far south as she goes, haha.

bell 12-03-2014 05:32 PM

What part of ne Ohio do you come from?

pc100porsche 12-03-2014 05:46 PM

Naples ... nice place, was there last year.
How do the real estate values compare ?

Brian in VA 12-03-2014 07:00 PM

Bell I grew up in Cinci, and my wife & I lived in Toledo for a while.

Real estate is a little higher in Naples (not counting the $20-68 million mansions on the water)

Flyfishing for bonefish seems to be the thing to do.

Have fun, and I'm sure you won't miss the winter.

I'm near Findlay, Ohio which is about 50 miles South of Toledo/Michigan line. I have been all over the East coast of Florida due to my BIL being in DelRay/Boynton Beach area, but have only made it to the left coast once and loved it. The east coast is nothing but a traffic jam most of the time, I don't think I could handle that.

I moved to Punta Gorda this year, so far we are realy happy we are not in the St. Louis area.

I love boating, and FL is typically considered as the best state to own a boat. There are some beautiful waterways and beaches, I think a boat would be my first FL purchase.

I am from Sarasota and miss it dearly. My family is still there. I left in '95 after I got married. Moved to NC for better job opportunities and have spent the past 20 years regretting my decision to ever leave. I'm now divorced and stay in NC to be near my kids. One day, I'll be back...
