Done... Over.. I did it!

I had never attended one day of college before, so 3 years ago when looking at colleges for my son, I decided to get my own degree. As of 4 o'clock this afternoon, I finished my final exam. I will soon be a college graduate. Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. It's finally over. Took me 2 1/2 years or 8 semesters. Busted my ass. Took 6-8 classes a semester which is 2-4 more than the normal load of a typical full time college student. (the primary goal was to finish before my son!)
Yeah, I did it!!! Done.. Over!!

Congratulations on a job well done.
Your son could have done the same, but is invited to more parties.

onewhippedpuppy 12-13-2014 06:16 PM

Congrats from another non-traditional student! The worst thing about going back to college is how old the college kids make you feel.:)

RANDY P 12-13-2014 06:22 PM

Just did that myself, nice work!

Now it's time for school PTSD syndrome. For weeks afterwards I kept waking up thinking I was forgetting to study for something or feeling I should be hitting books, dreams of falling behind in class and missing assignments that didn't exist.

Good to hear that from someone else. I spent six months feeling like I was forgetting something.

lowyder993s 12-13-2014 06:55 PM

/\/\/\/\THIS!!!! Except mine lasted AT LEAST 10 yrs. No better feeling tho when realizing it was a dream! Well done 'snake! Did you take Dean Wormer's advice and not go thru "Fat, Drunk and Stupid?" If you didn't...then you are legend!!!

onewhippedpuppy 12-13-2014 07:01 PM

I went back to get my MBA, so that feeling is unfortunately still legitimate.

Gogar 12-13-2014 07:15 PM

Congrats!

I think in a perfect world, everyone would go to college a little bit later in life.

Don Plumley 12-13-2014 07:34 PM

Way to go! Congrats!

M.D. Holloway 12-13-2014 07:40 PM

Hahaha... It looks like I'm not the first in this thread to echo this sentiment and I probably won't be the last. Tomorrow is the 13th anniversary of my college graduation, BSME... It's been 8.5 since I finished an MBA and I STILL have a recurring nightmare that I wait until the bitter end of the semester to show up for class and when I do, it happens to be the day of the exam.

Fortunately, I wake up after that.

Congrats Rattlesnak

mattdavis11 12-14-2014 04:58 AM

Congratulations, Rattlesnak!

vonsmog 12-14-2014 05:13 AM

Those nightmares don't go away! I still get them and I was done with school in 1982 and still get them once in awhile. But now maybe only once a year. I guess the stress never goes away.

RANDY P 12-14-2014 06:43 AM

LOL I remember one real bad episode- in a dream feeling like I was left behind in class, like I missed 2 or 3 lectures, and debating on whether or not I was gonna pass or fail, and an action plan to get caught up-

While I was out cold....I woke up and had to tell myself several times I already graduated, and whatever class I was behind in didn't exist, school was over.

NO LIFT 12-14-2014 08:45 AM

Congrats!

I did it 10 years ago, and the degree and the experience of accomplishing it has done much for me.

And I'm wishing it does the same for you!

motion 12-14-2014 08:48 AM

Wow, my hat's off to you. Job well done!

wdfifteen 12-14-2014 09:08 AM

Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment.
I'll bet you sleep better now. For a couple of years after I graduated I continued to have nightmares that I had one more course to complete before I got my sign-off. Woke up in a cold sweat more than once.

tabs 12-14-2014 09:44 AM

Now I just have dreams where I am late to a meeting that could advert Thermonuclear war...

Hugh R 12-14-2014 10:36 AM

Good for you. Like Randy, I sometimes think I'm back in college and behind, or back in the USMC. Almost 40 years later.

MBAtarga 12-14-2014 01:34 PM

Hey Marc - that is great! Now ask for a big raise so you can pay even MORE taxes! :)

widgeon13 12-14-2014 02:31 PM

Congrats, great example and accomplishment!

craigster59 12-14-2014 02:46 PM

Congratulations! Is it true that college chicks are really hot and put out? :)
