Free stuff these days...

So I got to thinking - what can you get for free anymore these days? Free as in "no strings attached, don't need to go to some silly convention to get some knick-knack with a company logo on it" free stuff.

Here's what I cam up with:

Food stuff:
- Free cold cut samples at the local deli
- Free ice cream sample at the ice cream parlor
- Free samples at Costco / BJ's / SAMS club
- Free candy at banks

Car related stuff:
- Free air for the tires at many gas stations
- Free water for your radiator
- Free maps and tourism packets at vacation spots / state tourism departments (but really, with the interwebs, you don't really need this)
- Free charging stations for EV vehicles at Walmart and many other businesses (this one is getting more popular)

Other stuff:
- Many ski mountains allow you to take the first morning run for free to see if the conditions are satisfactory for you.
- Free mulch at the local town recycling center in many towns
- Free concerts at many town squares across the USA
- Free buffet or luncheon at Sr. Assisted Living centers or Time sharing places (sometimes also includes a free gift) -- the only obligation here is to hear their sales pitch (kinda have some strings attached)
- Free internet access at many cafes & libraries
- Free books and movies to rent from local libraries

What others can you think of?

Any Craigslist add with the words "curb alert" in it.

I got a free "Smart" sprinkler controller from my water supplier. Many in CA offer them.

Doesn't Sam's Club require a membership fee? No Membership? No soup for you...:D

Nothing is free, there is only the illusion that nobody pays.

Actually, Lime Rock offers free admission to all veterans and active duty military personnel. Check their website. I just showed my ID and was in this past summer season. I think that's pretty great.

free advice..... worth twice the cost.

I don't think air is free at any gas station around here anymore. I believe it's $1 to turn the machine on.

I do get a call saying I won a free cruise every 2nd day tho.

I got some free flashlights and a tape measure at Harbor Freight before they put the 'with any purchase' on the coupons.

Free nibblets at Costco.
Free RV parking in Wallmart lots. Bicycles in back. Fishing pole and wood stove.
Free gas points on the cc.
Free vacation?

Not many places that have either of those around here. I know of 1 gas station that's got free air very near where I used to live. Now the closest gas station has a machine like most, that costs $1 to get air, except that this one takes credit cards.

Yeah, lots of free food samples at grocery stores these days. I usually don't go on the days that they are most abundant and usually pass them by.

Free help and stuff from many Pelican folks gets passed around.

I know that at Costco, you do not need a membership card to enter for Rx purchases. So I guess once you are in to pick up your drugs, you can roam and sample the vittles. But don't expect to actually buy any non-Rx items without a membership!
