i havent seen that many 1/2ton dodge diesels.

very few of them on the road here.

any long term reviews? i just got an email that whatever Nissan has up their sleeve will be release on Jan 12th. pretty sure it is their half-ton Titan, in diesel.

i'm about 1.5 yrs from replacing my Tacoma. timing is about right for everyone to work out some bugs.

Is a small engined diesel pickup truck really the way to go with fuel prices running $1.20-$1.40 a gallon higher for diesel. Add to that the amount of money spent on urea DEF fluid that is required by most new truck makers to reduce emissions, and all of a sudden, a gas V8 starts sounding like the best deal out there. I am keeping my 3/4 ton 4x4 F-250 with the 7.3 liter diesel for towing and hauling, but these new half ton trucks with thier downsized diesel motors won't have any more power than a much cheaper gasoline V8 (to buy and to operate).

When I purchased my Ram 1500 with the Hemi 5.7, I drove a diesel that was a customer special order as the lot could only get the "extended cab" versions out of the production whereas everyone was looking for crew. After driving it, doing the math on cost upgrade vs. towing need etc, I went with the Hemi and love the fact I get 18.5 miles to the gallon on mixed driving and I can still tow whatever I need without issue.

Cliff, check out the chevy with the 6.2 v8. Eric swear he is getting 28mpg out of them... If I was buying a half ton it would be high on my list.

I saw a commercial for them last night. That was the first advertisement that I have seen for them. I'm sure we will see more once word gets out.

A friend of mine bought the new Dodge 1/2-ton Ram....Think he said the Diesel engine is a 3.0 six cylinder built in Italy for Marine usage? He claims 28 mpg on the highway unloaded.....As they are just released, no deals to be had........

Sounds great, but I like the size of a Toyota and been waiting 20 years for the Turbo Diesel they sell in Australia and Europe......... I can't bear to buy a new one, as I use mine as a truck and always get a few nicks and bumps......

Definitely. I plan to be around. Might be able to bring the tweeze too. I'll talk to her. Want to meet somewhere along 10 on your way out of town?

I'm surprised how not different that new Tacoma looks from the current. Looks like just a new nose and tailgate. Too bad they didn't change it to look more modern.

I haven't seen a single Ram 1500 diesel on the road here yet.

I like the look of the new Taco, but if they don't do something to improve it's capability for the money then I just don't think it makes sense.
