I thought after running the place for 30 years I might have something profound to say.
But I don't. I guess I just kept showing up every day and eventually enough customers thought I was ok to do business with to make the shop profitable.

We've been waiting for the buyer's FFL to arrive. It came yesterday (3 month wait). So now the serious negotiations can begin. I'm certain there will be some degree of 'owner financing'. If it's more than I'm comfortable with I can go with Plan B (or C :)).
But I'm a fairly optimistic guy; the plan is for me to spend three months teaching him the business (for 'free'). But however it plays out I expect to be goofing off a bit by the first of April.

A few I've learned to live by in my industry (Marketing...)

1. Always do right by your employees, the client, and the company. Mostly in that order.
2. Don't be afraid to fire a bad client.
3. Lead by example, and be willing to do everything you ask your team to do.
4. When presenting a plan of action, speak with conviction and determination.
5. Manage UP and down. Make your boss and your team both look good.
