G'day!

Three off the top of my head:
1. I take care of those who take care of me 2. There's no such thing as problems....just opportunities 3. Business is about feelings, attitudes, and relationships

When climbing the ladder of success, watch out for the toes you step on. They might be attached to the a$$ you have to kiss tomorrow. Very applicable to the Entertainment Industry.

I've found it to be a good one Baz. Another timely one that I've always tried to abide by is "The key to success is to answer text and e-mails promptly, call back when you say you will, know what the Hell is going on, and be the solution don't add to the problem. Oh, and always show up on time (better an hour early than a minute late)." That's my personal philosophy.

Name some of your favourite business philosophies...
6. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
7. There's a sucker born every minute 8. People aren't our most valuable resource, money is our most valuable resource. 9. Meetings are for people who can't solve problems, just talk about them. 10. Fortune favors the bold.

Outwork them, until you can outsmart them.
Then outwork them again sometimes, just for sport.

I'm a huge fan of #1. "Do unto others" works equally well with coworkers, employees, and customers.
Be brief, be bright, be gone. Do what you say you'll do, when you say you'll do it. If you can't be on time, be early.

Above all else, take pride in your work.
Keep your contacts close. An ideal transaction leaves both the seller and the buyer feeling good. An occasional favor or extra will help in the long run. Keep a sliding scale for those who are hurting.

In commissioned sales:
1) If you're willing to pay it, we're willing to charge it. 2) Your review is your W2. And one of my favorite Jack Welch quotes: "A CEO has to come to work every day prepared to drown puppies."

Buy high.
Sell low. Try to make up for it with volume.

If you get to work early, you are actually on time.
If you get to work on time, you are actually late. If you get to work late, you are actually fired.

NeveR pass up a golden opportunity to shut the hell up.
Let people talk. You learn as much about them from what they don't say as you can from what they do. I use the Michael Corleone school of management; It's not personal, it's strictly business. Be the calmest person in the room. Lead quietly and with respect. Sun Tzu has been helpful in guiding thru some situations.

1. Make a weekly copy of all the database files and keep them handy.
2. Archive your emails every 30 days and keep a copy for your records. 3. ALWAYS get the orders in writing or an email then see #2 above. 4. If you would not say it or do in front of your grandmother, don't do it. 5. If you are a government person, NEVER tell a contractor to do something....you just modified the contract. Never get caught! |

1) Get to know all of your customers/subordinates..Know the name of their spouse and children...
2) Sunday eve: Review your company emails, you will be on top of your game Monday morning. 3) If staff have problems with each other, ask them to put it in writing. 4) Reviews should be factual, have documentation. 5) Don't get bogged down with email - Be organized 6) Keep a clean desk and an open door. 7) Limit meetings to 2 hrs......It's more important to listen than to talk...... 8) Heavy drinking only when far away..... 9) Thinking of a relationship at work: "Don't get your meat where you get your bread"....

Never put anything in writing that isn't factual and polite.
Message, not messenger; I would prefer you not treat me poorly, but if what you're requesting is legitimate, I'll do it regardless.
