I think the same group did both Sony and North Korea.

So do I . Very worrisome, as some idiots could trigger a global confrontation.

ah . . no.

North Korea can't even keep the lights on with regularity. Their Internet going down is less of a big deal than those in this country who forget to change their smoke alarm batteries.

I found out how they lost connection to the world wide web:

At least we didn't BOW to them.

I am sure Hilgar, potus, holder were running around looking for the RESET button ...LOL

I think NK did it themselves out of some idea that a counter-cyber attack was coming. Shutting down would insulate them. I truly doubt our leadership did anything at all. We already drew the line in the sand...that's normally as far as it goes.

I read somewhere that NK only has a few thousand IP addresses for a population of about 24 million...
I guess the impact was minimal.

widgeon13 12-24-2014 05:54 AM

Actually, it's just about a thousand. Saw that yesterday.

NAT an RFC1918 class A behind each of those, and now you've got something...

flipper35 12-24-2014 07:21 AM

It wouldn't be hard to do a DDoS attack on such a tightly controlled gateway for that country.

It's definitely not our administration's style to retaliate unless they've procrastinated several weeks. If they did, it's the equivalent
to a pillow fight. If the administration really wants to get Tubby's attention, I have a few ideas.....

2. How many of the populace were actually affected by this? 5%?

3. This retaliation amounts to no more than throwing sand in someone's face in a sandbox.

^^^This...

Shutting down their internet is about as serious to them as if our enemy shut down all the Red Lobsters in America.

Small update. Look at Google today. They are streaming "The Interview" for free. I just may watch this.

It's not free, but very cool that they rolled it out this way.

Can we make it so that's all they can see online in N Korea?

Or maybe get into the supreme leader's private porn stash...

I think someone did something to NK's system to say "you don't want to go there"
