Don't step on Superman's cape

I think we sent a message to Kim Jung Un today. Mess with us and we might mess with you. Only we might make it hurt a little more. I am not one for warfare but I would be proud if a few of my tax dollars paid for this tweak on his nose.

Larry

PS - it is even better if some goof-ball vigilante hackers in Jr. High did this on their own.

I actually feel sorry for the North Korean people... It must have taken a lot of effort to make them so docile and obedient.
Meanwhile Kim Jung Un would have to be rethinking his options. If he's truly as nutty as the press is telling us anything goes.

I have to believe if he actually launched anything we could shoot it down. Wheather obaama does it is another matter. I'm waiting for him to ask forgiveness, give him a couple spies, and whatever nuke programs Maddy and Bill didn't give them.

All the Kimmie talk reminds me of the Scud missiles in the 90's.

The "internet" went dead in North Korea today. They apparently have no active internet connectivity now.

Would that not be because "they" shut it off?
Or are you saying they shut it off in fear protecting their people from the back spin....LOL

If true would reflect a junior hs mentality. How many computers you think it affected? Gullible anybody? The idea that they took down Sony is suspect also, since they do not teach IT in NK. Not saying they didn't contract it out.

We or most likely China at our behest, shut them off to point out that they are just a little piss ant and that if they keep messing with us or our companies, it will be permanent.

Taking away their internets is a means of retaliation? Really? So...

1. While heavily regulated, the internet is where North Koreans can get dribbles of non-censored information, and communicate with the outside world. And taking that away helps how?

2. How many of the populace were actually affected by this? 5%?

3. This retaliation amounts to no more than throwing sand in someone's face in a sandbox.

4. No matter what language or what country, the internets are 99% noise, 1% information.

What concerns me mroe is this: we look upon North Korea as a backwards nation that is years behind in everything including technology. Their attack on Sony revealed that they are capable of doing more than we expected.

Perhaps we have been underestimating our enemy.

North Korea's Internet was killed completely by someone other than them for 9.5 hours. Last thing that I saw was that it was just partially restored and unstable.

The US hasn't claimed responsibility.

I don't think most of N Korea has Internet, but the big boys certainly have Internet, and considering it's Asia, more than anything else, this was an embarrassment and huge loss of face for the Big, little guy. I think we just pimp slapped him more than anything else.

And we, the average Joe may think they are backwards and lacking, but I suspect our gov't has a better idea what they are capable of. I also suspect that what they did wasn't that big a deal technically. They hacked Sony, not the NSA.

Fwiw, anonymous hacked Sony months ago, and told them where the weakness lied in their system.

Unless the weakness was untruthful?

I'd suggest they outsourced the attack. It would be fairly simply to pay someone to do the deed.
And that someone may have been in a place like India.
....... Considering the off shoring of so much IT support from Western Countries this scenario is more than likely IMO.

I so doubt this administration did anything..thats not his MO. It would take 6 months of finger wagging in the air to see what would be politically correct .

+1^^^^

My guess is that they did it themselves so they could blame us. Suppose we'll see soon enough.

Wow -- a whole 9.5 hours. That really showed them. All 3 members of the Kim family were deprived of Internet pornography for 9.5 hours. Kim had nothing to do and may have been forced to go out and get some exercise. Our Dear Leader really taught their Dear Leader a lesson.
