Dave’s Hot Chicken?

One of these just opened a mile from my house. Never been. Is it any good? What’s the scoop on this place?

My opinion - It's OK. It can be spicier than I like it. Fries are awfully salty. The 'slaw is weird. And it is kinda spendy for what you get.

My family loves Dave’s. I’m into spicy, the boy likes regular.

No complaints about the sides. The sauce is good.

Damnit, now I want one.

So does this mean you like Dave's Hot Chicken?

hmmm what does this mean actually?

I never heard of Dave's until I saw one down the street a few days ago and googled and see its a chain. Looks like its basically chicken tenders, sliders and nuggets. Not really my thing. I was hoping it was traditional fried check, you know...a drum stick with the skin on it done Nashville hot style. However, I will probably check it out soon

I haven't slept in 3 days because I am having a diverticulitis flair up and I think I am right on the edge of an infection so I may need to wait another week before I jump back into this sorta food

For some reason I don't want chicken anymore.

Been going through this about 8 years now. I know the deal.
Last time I went to the ER, I walked out with a $10K bill for nothing. But, if it gets to that point, I know what I gotta do. Sepsis is no joke . Ive had 2 abscesses so far and probably getting close to needing the surgery

We have another pelican here who had the surgery and seems to have done ok. I am probably more willing to die than risk that surgery but we shall see

hahah I am always bewildered by your analogies and metaphors

what does DO NOT BECOME A FISH mean?

I am a fisherman and I have 8 fish tanks...My experience at least with aquarium fish is they will eat almost anything and will eat until they explode because their instincts to eat - while the getting is good- is still present. DO NOT OVER FEED YOUR FISH

Or was that Godfather reference?

But it might not best for what the gut actually needs.

I had it once a few months ago, I think I got Hot, slider and fries for $10.

It was hot, kudos to them for a realistic spice level. Otherwise it was really just OK. Thought value for dollar was decent. I'll go again if I'm close and hungry but it wouldn't be a destination.

My favorite chicken chain is Yas Chicken, only here in MA and RI. It's very small now, just 5 locations, but the best chicken sandwich I've ever had at a restaurant. I think it's Korean based. This place I would drive a half hour to get a chicken sandwich. GF is extra happy when I bring them home.

No apology needed. When I read something that I think I should understand but don’t, I think —is it possible that this phrase or thought really alluded me all these years? Especially in this case where I am a Pisces, a fisherman, a fish keeper, and a purveyor of bad habits

Back in college, I out of the blue became a vegetarian. No influence on me or a suggestion by anyone. Just like suddenly walking into the store and buying a motorcycle. I just wanted to do it so I did. I stayed a vegetarian for 13 years.

One thing I can say about it is, your ability, at least then, to eat fast food is diminished significantly.

You basically have pizza. Once you start getting into vegetarian Indian and Asian foods, and Burritos, for me it became much less “fast food”. I’ve been to Taco Bell exactly once and that was in August of 1994. You had to really work to find a place to eat outside the home which was a good thing.

Even now, I do try to limit “fast food”. So much of it is just very unappealing to me now. The last time I went to Burger King 6 years ago (first time since the 80s) I was on the NYS thruway and stopped. My cheeseburger was almost refrigerator cold. By then, only 45 seconds later, I was already back on the road so I tossed it out the window for the bears and have never been back. And won’t be. That’s how I am.

However, if something is really good……this is rare though

Haven't had the corn dog mostly because the chicken is so good but someday soon. Definitely going now this weekend, haven't been for well over a month now. if it would travel well I'd ship you one but even bringing home vs. eating there is a real difference in experience. Overnighting to NY is probably not in your best interest though I could have them decontruct the sandwich into containers I'd bring, you'd just have to properly deep fry or air fry the chicken. Something to consider.

Aw thanks but yea even just a 15 minute drive with our favorite pizza etc just ain’t the same as eating it right away.

I think even Katz’ Deli will ship my favorite pastrami sandwich these days. I’ve been tempted but no way it could be the same as standing in that line and then being handed the masterpiece and straight to my mouth

Lemme know how that corn dog is if you get it

I’ve NEVER had a corn dog but that one looks amazing and special. I wouldn’t hesitate to order one if I was there

Not sure if these can be found anywhere else but we have something here called the bagel dog.
Loved them since I was a kid. It’s a bagel with a hot dog inside of it, with cheese or no cheese. You bite the end off and squeeze your mustard in there and you’re in heaven. Never seen them anywhere else.

Damn I’m hungry

We've had a Dave's Hot, Hangry Joe's, Urban Bird, Angry Chickz, Chicken Salad Chick and a Bojangles all hatch recently. And Lanes and Raising Cane's. Crazy.
