My bet is the wind / local air flow did him in. It depends on where you are, but it can be very unpredictable. When I hunt in mountain terrain, I pay attention to the local drafts and breezes to stay down wind from any game and it is amazing how quickly the wind can radically change direction and intensity. (Usually to the advantage of the game!).
I also agree with the rest of you that the safety equipment was sub-par. This is track day level safety. Open face helmet ... and nothing against Crow harnesses, they are just as good as any, I use them, but they are the least expensive harness out there. Likely these guys did the stunt on a budget. The guy looks VERY scared before starting to drive. He should listen to his fear next time. Fear is what keeps you alive, IMHO. G |

He sure looked like he was being tossed around inside the car.
Could he have secured his head better? It seems like once you're flipping, it's best to cross your arms tightly. His arms could have gone outside the window and gotten crushed. |
Yep!

I wonder if he hit the ramp at the incorrect target speed and lifted the throttle at the last moment. That would shift the center of gravity forward, weighting the front of the car, so that when it cleared the ramp, it would continue tilting forward over time.

The wonders of socialized medicine.

It's kind of a shame he's already passed his genetic material along.

If you notice, as he increased the speed for each jump it became progressively more nose down at the end of each jump. Looks like they should have cranked up a couple more notches of rebound in the rear shocks as the suspension was being compressed with the increase in speed. It also looks if he had made it another 25 feet he would have been on the down slope of the landing ramp.

If he'd been on a bike he could have just goosed the throttle to get the nose up. Oh well, better luck next time.

This. Is what happens when you add a serious v8...to a mini cooper

Ooooo, nice form, but a little rough on the landing. He may have to settle for the bronze.
