Some very real world experience Tuesday night. What is normally a 3.5 hour drive from NYC to Boston was a 7 hour one and I can unequivocally say which tires would be best, where, in snow and slush conditions.

Front. Absolutely, no question. I put my best tires up front though the rears were a close second. Any time when going through heavier snow and slush or changing lanes, I was very glad to have the nearly new Open Country A/Ts on the front. They commanded stability while the backs pushed me along at slow sane speeds. Have to put a LSD in the truck this summer.

Those cleaned up nice, ought to hold up better too.

They make an OR hat for surgeons with beards that is ideal for that sort of work.

Winter, yuck. Top down on the freeway driving home at 1800. I am getting tires Saturday actually, the ones on the car are just about corded.

You don't need tires - you need;
