Making money while traveling?
I'm always looking for new revenue streams. As you guys know, I travel constantly. Been kinda tossing around the idea of figuring out a way to make money while traveling. Haven't come up with anything, other than creating travel apps and writing off the travel expenses. Some people pay for their traveling by renting out their home/apt on BnB. I'm not really interested in doing that. The house is stuffed with way too much tempting stuff.
Any ideas? You guys are smarter than I am ![]()

I'm putting together a blog to write off expenses, but I don't really have very high expectations for it.

I would LOVE to do Ural side car tours for couples around the world, but the logistics are ridiculous.

Photography. Father-in-law's wife is a photographer. Not to your scale, but they travel a good bit. She takes photos every day. Some are published, sold, used in some other project. Many more are not, but much of the cost of the trips is chalked up to work related expenses. And she does generate income with the photography. I'm simplifying things. They have a good accountant and an even better tax attorney that advise them. -J.

I've run into some interesting people making money while traveling.
The wife and I ran into a group of Russian hackers in Manila. They travel around the world with their laptops, moving from one spot to the next. I wonder why. I ran into 2 young Ruskies in Bangkok who were providing social services. Hooking old white guys up with young Thais, I suppose.

Boutique travel concierge service. You go to interesting places and have more travel experience than most others. Sell bespoke trips to accompany travelers on their travels. You can take business that you want and reject business you don't want. You don't even need to accompany each client on their travels, so you might be able to consider some of your travels to be business-related research. You could also sell your services to clients to make the most of frequent flyer points and other travel programs. In either case, you can do as much or as little business as you like and work when you want to work. Your blog can be part of the business - advertising and travel tips for potential clients. You gain a legitimate business where your travel expenses are reasonably viewed as business expenses. Periodically, you can then self-publish travel diary type books (think more travelogues than trip guides). Realistically, you don't need to compete with Rick Steves or Fodors - you just need to have some low cost "what I saw when we went to XXX place" type books on Amazon. Self publishing is a lot more viable than it used to be and you just need enough to justify the travel expenses.

This probably isn't interesting, but years ago when I did a decent amount of traveling, I was always running into little items not available here anywhere. I only have one I bought (in Spain or France) & is still around here somewhere. It's a small, leather, zippered wallet looking thing that you unzip and a large, nylon (or some such material) shopping type bag with handles unfolds from the inside. At the time, I thought it would be interesting to find out where they were made and import for sale here. If you didn't want to do all the little business things yourself, maybe you could find a company to handle that and get a cut of whatever they made from it/them.
