Audi PPI in Athens Alabama

I'm considering the long distance purchase of a 2002 Audi TT coupe that's located in Athens Alabama. The seller doesn't seem to be a car guy and it has been a struggle to get specific condition questions answered adequately. At this point I really need a PPI.

I've located an independent Audi/VW garage in Huntsville that will do a PPI but the seller isn't interested in helping me make that happen, too far away. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything closer to Athens. The car is located 5 miles east of Athens near Nick Davis Road.

I've taken a quick look at the CarChex type inspection services, but I'm just not getting a good feeling about that. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

IMO, car guys really need to see all of their prospective car purchases in person or prepare for unwelcome surprises that might have been deal breakers.

If the PO isn't a car guy, there's no obvious service resources in the general vicinity and the owner is not willing to assist, you may want to pass. Your call.

If he is not a car guy then maybe he thinks you don't need to put oil in the engine until the oil light comes on....

+1 on the pass. He's either truly not a car guy or hiding something. You'll be happier buying somebody's baby than than picking up this guy's "used car."

"I have already had an independent inspection performed by Express Oil here locally"

There must be a ton of Audi coupes for sale. Is there something about this car that makes it REALLY special?

It's the year/model/color/options car that I'm looking for and most importantly it's from a salt free location. I can find the same car here in SE Wisconsin, but 13 rust belt winters do take their toll.

fingpilot has graciously offered to take a look at it, but as it turns out there is a pending sale. However, the seller has told me that in the past but then continued to update and refresh the CL ad. He may just think that an informed out-of-state buyer is a PITA and not worth the trouble. Should know more on Monday.

No help at this point, but I used to live about a mile from where this guy is located. The Audi dealer in Huntsville isn't "too far away " - it's like 20 minutes from there.

I was trying to get him to take it to Johnson Foreign Auto, about a mile east of Hiley Audi. So in his world, I'm sure that would have been "too far" as well. Especially when you've got an Express Oil a couple of blocks away.
