Any tips to putting up an attractive online dating profile?

(i'm scared). my wife is helping a friend put together a working Match profile. they want me to take the photograph..which means i am gonna be roped into the rest of it.

any tips? should we not pose her with her fifteen cats?

Every woman has one and they all want a reason to wear it.

No pictures of animals unless she is riding it. (Chick wearing a Black Dress on a alligator.)

No pictures of her with children, ex's, dates or other family members. Your trying to sell her not the rest of the family.

No background pictures. Tiny little picture of her with the Grand Canyon behind.

No holiday pictures of a table full of empty booze containers and 3 or 4 other people.

Yep. And has her own money. Doesn't want a ring. No kids. Likes to travel. Not crazy. (No really, NOT crazy.) (Okay, tolerable levels of crazy. One needs to be realistic.) Good company. #2: Keep the profile concise.

OK Cupid has an interesting blog post talking about photo effectiveness. Cleavage only works for certain age groups.

Be interesting. I'm dating now on Match and go out with attractive women who are as boring as dirt. Recently put a stop to that, time is to precious these days.

Of course the weeding out process starts with the pics. Take several good pics, no selfies, they sort of say loser.

I've included pics of stuff I've done, not of me, and they tend to spark conversation in the same way as when you meet someone in person and notice something interesting about them.

Start with a pic of Carmen Diaz or Jennifer Aniston. Photoshop it a wee bit (maybe change hair to red). Include a classic Porsche in the photo if possible.

My guess is that, as a female type, she'll get plenty of responses no matter what. Wonder if it would make sense to NOT make the profile pic and description too amazing. Pics should be accurate, but not unrealistic. Same with the profile. The responses will be more genuine and she'll get fewer players.

I would suggest a picture of her doing something that she loves (not X-rated hahha!) and that is listed as one of her "likes" in the profile.

E.g. surfing, hiking, driving a race car, flying a kite, or a vacation spot/view. I think I would try to show an interesting thing that is in her life. People are less self conscious when they are doing something they like and this usually results in better pictures than the "posed" ones. Unless she's a super model and KNOWS how to pose... The rest of us always wind up looking awkward and forced doing most of the "hold still while I take your picture" moments.

The picture should be here/now and I think that enough of her should be in the picture to show body type. If someone has a problem with her body type, they can just keep on cruising. I can't imagine anything more humiliating than showing up to a date who is appalled over my weight, my age, or my hair color... Nor could I imagine ever giving someone a false impression of my appearance and then trying to go forward with an "honest" relationship.

No "selfies" - that screams loser, and no "ulta-close-ups-look-at-my-nostril-and-1/3-of-my-face". Flattering light and hair/clothing is all a-ok. But nothing fake.

Just my humble opinion.

I tell my friends: RUN if the profile Pic includes:

1) Grandkids
2) Cats
3) Horses

All three of these are hints the new guy in her life will never be her priority......
