Best airport for Princeton NJ?

Traveling to Princeton NJ for a swim meet next month.

What's the better airport to fly into: Philly or Newark?

It's about $300 to Philly and $250 to Newark.

Thoughts?

I fly into Philly and drive up.

Not that far and an easy drive.

Princeton is close to equidistant between the two.

Depending on when you are flying in, day and time, Philly traffic may be easier to deal with.

The run south from Newark will bring traffic from NYC with it.

I'd go with Philly, but Newark is very easy to navigate and get in and out of.

For Princeton, I'd use Philly.

I'd go with Philly. IMO Princeton is an easier shot from there. At the very least though do not fly OUT of Newark to go home. It is an awful airport.

Another Option is Trenton- Mercer airport, but it will cost more.

I'm with Vinny on this one. Mercer Airport, but book early and you might get a decent deal. It's 15 minutes from Princeton. Newark is probably 30 to 45 minutes and Philly probably an hour maybe a bit more.

Agreed, and those flights use to be cheap, but have winnowed down to almost nothing going in or out of that AP. too bad because it was VERY convenient. flights often left late, so never go out on the last one..........

It's a nice little airport. Plus you don't have to deal with the crowds and BS like the big ones. Its almost worth paying the extra $.

Was there in December for 5 days.

Had a minivan.

Unlimited miles.

$127.89 through Costco.

if newark is closer and cheaper, why do you guys pick philly? guess i'll be the outlier and choose to fly out of newark if trenton/mercer isn't available as an option.

Teeterboro is ridiculously far. Trenton and Philly are the closest.

My fave airport to fly in and out of in my area is Atlantic City Int., hands down.

Look at a map of the area.

Philly is ~10 miles farther. Negligible in my book.

The population density in the Philly area is nothing compared to N Jersey.

You've got Manhattan and Staten Island on the East side all the way down to Perth.

There are more major arteries feeding into the Perth area.

In a nutshell, traffic. I lived up there a good part of my life and that whole corridor just sucks.

The drive up from Philly is nice, good roads, you can easily cruise at 80, and it's more scenic.

From my personal experience Philly is less stressful.

EDIT: If you've never seen the Manhattan skyline then fly into Newark. Gives you something to look at while you are sitting in traffic.

COSTCO???

I'm gong to remember that.

A friend of mine goes to Greece every Summer from Thousand Oaks, CA, he gets an Enterprise Rent a Car in TO and drives it to LAX and drops it off for some nominal one-way fee. He gets another one when he returns a month later. T He leaves home when he wants, no rideshare, no parking. With a family of five its way cheaper than any shuttle.

I hate Newark. Unless it has changed significantly in the past 5 years.
