Phoenix area rock climbing

I'm going to be in Scottsdale late next month for business. My daughter lives in the area and has taken an interest in climbing (top rope gym only so far) so I offered to take her out for her first outdoor experience. I would prefer to give her a taste of easy multi pitch trad but would settle for sport. I'm looking for 1-3 pitch 5.6 or less preferably with a walk off (she hasn't rapelled yet). Setting up a top rope for some easy single pitch sport routes would be OK. Any recommendations?

Not a clue honestly. Check out Climbing, Hiking, Mountaineering : SummitPost. Also, have her ask around in the gym, see where the regulars there go. Wish I was more help, but I haven't had time to try out the local rock.

Any places like R.E.I. in Phoenix? Check with any sport stores that sell climbing equipment & they most likely can clue you in.

There is an REI in Phoenix yes. Which gym does she climb at?

I hit Focus Climbing center in Mesa, right off the 101 on Broadway.

Thanks guys. She climbs somewhere in the Scottsdale area. REI is a great idea if I can get her to go ahead of time. They usually have local climbing beta you can't get anywhere else. Not knowing the area, I'm leaning toward the McDowell Mountain area. Funny, when I mentioned it to her last night she got all nervous about climbing outdoors. A lot of kids today have learned climbing in the gym only and don't realize the incredible world of the outdoors.

The climbing gym in Scottsdale is good. Have her ask those guys where to go! I was bouldering on real rock(granite slabs) about a month after I started in the gym. I go to the gym because it's close and fast, but nothing beats real rock!
