A few years ago I was able to be about four feet away from a 917 as it idled by in first gear.
Absolutely intoxicating sound, even at idle. |

Saw a reproduction at Barrett Jackson a couple of years ago. It was a much, much smaller car than I had imagined.

Hey Frank, hope you are doing well!
I've watched/listened to it 10 times now, never gets old. Same for the Ferrari Shell video. I could watch and listen to the 2nd and 3rd cars on that video forever.

Whole different level of sweet noise. I'll never forget it, every one was totally flipped out with the car and Donahue. He was freakish fast, nothing touched him, even though he didn't win this race. I had to look it up and think back. My brother took me every year to the Can-Am, we would camp the weekend. I saw Donahue at least 2 of his 3 times.
