News on the internet

Where are we going for news these days.

I usually click into CNN in the mornings to catch up.

I prefer to read the news over watching 20 second clips.

CNN is now almost all video clips.

Im trying USA today but it is not much better.

Any recommendations?

We have 3 or 4 local news stations. I keep one as my home page and check several times per day. Can see local, regional, national and international news:

BBC. Fairly easy to use, not a lot of distracting flash and bling, just information.

Drudge. It has links to EVERYTHING. I go there first in the AM. From there you can go to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Bangkok Post, every major US or world daily, every commentator out there and dozens of more focused news and opinion sites from both sides of the aisle. Even North Korean news for your daily dose of propoganda.

Every one of the links posted above is there. Nothing else even comes close.

I cannot believe none of you are using Radio Pacifica!!!! (KPFT in Houston)

Seriously, a wide variety. The truth usually lies in the middle of what is being reported. Get multiple angles and then the slant becomes more apparent. Sometimes agencies get it right, generally they all have an agenda. We, as humans, will tend to desire the agenda closest to our own.

Analog newspaper is always first source.

Used to go to CNN but their new format really sucks. I like BBC and have recently been going to MSN.COM.

MSN is more or less like CNN was in days past. I can pick and choose what I want to read, no scrolling crap, no flashing videos, etc.

USA Today, Fox News, AOL, and Yahoo. May I suggest the National Inquirer to round up those perfect choices.

+1. I like the Wall Street Journal best, then the Toronto Globe & Mail.

3 hours of Squawk Box on CNBC M-F or as much as I can play back from my DVR as I wake up, and before the day takes over. Starts at 5AM here, so most days I can take in the first 2 hours.
Good business coverage, and all the real news that you need to know, really.
Weather a bit, when a storm is around, esp in the NE.

Nothing fancy but I like news.google.com . Links to stories but it's most topics from many sources in 1 place.

On tv it's almost exclusively CNN for me. Used to be Fox when I worked from home, but I like CNN's evening stuff better than Fox's and I commute to an office now. So I only see tv news at night now.

On my phone it's Fox and Drudge, sometimes BBC. CNN's iPhone app blows, so I deleted it.

On my computers it's Drudge, CNN, Fox, Wash. Post and AZCentral.

Check out hotsheet.com for a list of all the big ones in one place.

Hate it. And the BBC site is not much better, though I do like their televised reporting.

AP has a very nice format with little video or pop-ups.

The L.A. Times site is pretty good for local and statewide coverage.

I still think the best site for news on the net is The Onion - America's Finest News Source

only there can you get great stories like this:

Neighbors Come Together To Watch BMW Owner Struggle In Snow | The Onion - America's Finest News Source
