Ayinger also makes a great Hefeweizen, closest to the good stuff I used to get in Bamberg. Bamberg also has a great Rauchbier, Schlenkerla. Try it if you find it, not everyones taste but I love it.

Haven't tried it myself but plan to brew 5 gallons soon. Arrogant Bastard Ale. My brother brewed 10 gallons and really liked it. He said it had a good malty taste with a slight hop flavor and aroma.

BTW, if you think owning a Porsche is a passion, try homebrewing. I tell people it's the most rewarding hobby I have. Drinking a homebrew while making a homebrew. Nothing better.

I'll have to look for the Hefe. I despise all the hoppy IPAs out there, too bitter for my taste!

Yes, that's the stuff. I sold a motorcycle to a guy from Grand Rapids a couple of years ago. I told him the price was $xxxx plus two six packs of Founders. He came through with the deal!

Sorry Motion, but you did the equivalent of getting on the thread and saying ALL butts are gross

Been a Spaten Oktoberfest fan for a few years now. Have 10 cases in our cellar for spring consumption. Our summer restaurant, a wood fired brick oven pizza restaurant in western Wisconsin sells a LOT of beer. I'm in charge of quality control, burp!

It has been too long since I had a beer I never heard of before. Maybe I can get my brother to go to Rubicon this weekend.

FIX - Not new, but new to me. In Oct on the Greek Island of Mythos:

Had to laugh during my trip to Europe in June. IN 3 days, I'm in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. In each, a bartender tells me their county makes the best beer in the world.....

My fav in Queensland, Australia is Tooheys New:

Just unwinding with a nice porter after way too many hours of snowplowing.

Rauchbier is a Bamberg/Schweinfurt specialty. You won't find it made outside of that area of Frankonia (Franken).
It is a unique, and acquired taste. I was unaware there was a Weiss made in the Rauchbier process, and I was stationed near there for 4 years.

My favorite bier of all time is Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss. Made by Wuerzburger Hofbraeu. It is available in the U.S.
This followed by Heidelberger Schlossquell Helles Hefe Weiss. Never seen this here.
For a Pils I prefer Jever (Oma Bier), or Koenig-Pils. Both available here.

A biased list for sure, but to me, German Bier just answers the mail. Even cruddy German Biers are better than most country's best.

Beer. Nasty?
Never heard that before, from a male-type person.
I rarely drink it, however it can be great stuff.
Becks works for me.

I had some Electric Slide IPA during the Superbowl: Electric Slide IPA - 12 String Brewing

My favorite local brew is the No-Li Jet Star Imperial IPA: NoLi Brewhouse :: Brews

For something I can get at most grocery stores, Dechutes Inversion IPA does the trick: All Brews | Deschutes Brewery
