Peanut butter.
I bought one, my hippie wife bought the other.
The ingredients between the two are amazing. One dollar difference. The flavor, debatable. The organic jar taste just like a mouthful of peanuts. I like the fancy real stuff. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...aef6b4161b.jpg |
I live on peanut butter. Yeah, Skippy does taste way better, but I mostly use Trader Joe's unsalted natural PB
|
It's the sugar ,hydrogenated oil and added salt that's bad for you.
With the organic the added salt. I buy unsalted. Yeah, I know salt makes it taste better. I like to avoid added salt. Food companies pump up everything with salt. Salt, sugar & fat seem to be the 3 major food groups these days. This stuff can lead to high blood pressure and obesity. |
Goober is my fav.
Peanut butter and jelly in the same jar. Don't know if it's a regionally marketed product. One jar per sitting. Opened = empty. Matt |
Peter Pan creamy for me...
|
Adam's unsalted crunchy on toasted PBJ with sliced banana is a great backup for oatmeal in the morning.
|
It's gotta be crunchy, and the more it tastes like ground up peanuts the better. I do like the homogenized kind, but it's got hydrogenated oil in it so I usually get the plain kind.
|
Jiff or Peter Pan creamy for me as a favorite, but I seldom buy them. If possible, Trader Joe's has a really good tasting natural peanut butter. I prefer that. We eat a lot of peanut butter on English muffins in the mornings.

And if you want chemicals, check out the ingredients in the light peanut butter ?? |
Man, there are days when a PB&J on white bread just fits the bill.... Creamy peanut butter, strawberry jam, buttermilk white bread......I'm gonna go make me a sammy :--)

Also agree all food we buy is pumped with salt and sugar, I am guilty of indulging in bad food... but I try to avoid gratuitous S&S every chance I can. A long, long, long time ago I did an experiment and kept no sugar or salt in the house... after a few weeks everything I ate tasted salty and/or sweet. Amazing (or sad) how desensitized our taste buds are. |
we aren't an organic family so I haven't tried that PB.
I love PB right from the jar. I have purchased most brands including the cheap dollar store versions. I usually buy 2 jars of the smaller size so that a standard table spoon can be used for enjoying from the jar. Too big of container and you risk PB getting on the hand or the neck of the utensil. I HAVE used a spatula but something is "off" if not using a spoon. Yes, a wooden spoon could be used but then you risk splinters in your tongue.:D For me, Peter Pan creamy is the best. Good flavor and very smooth texture. Velvet is good but I don't know that it is available nationally. |
JIF creamy, I don't really care what's in it, I like the taste and have eaten anything I want for 50 years now with low cholesterol, normal weight, and plenty of energy.
|
Home made jelly is the way to go for the PG&J, partial to pomegranate, or a mix of that with something else, blackberry maybe, or strawberry.
I don't eat a lot of peanut butter, but it is usually Skippy chunky. Ate a LOT of toast with peanut butter and honey when I was cycling all the time. Fast, protein, sugar. |
Crunchy, a box of herb triscuits, and a tall glass of OJ on ice, oh yeah
|
Sugar, salt and fat...the holy trinity of fast foods.
|
I like Laura Scudder's, to each their own but prefer just peanuts in my peanut butter.
I suppose you whiskey n coke drinkers think you like the taste of whiskey too. :p |
My favorite is fresh ground. Unfortunately, the store close to us that had a grinder took it out when they remodeled.

I usually just get the Peter Pan creamy but sometimes crunchy to change it up. It's all good! :) |
Smooth JIF on original Nibisco Graham Crackers with a cold glass of milk. I've been know to get in the car and run to the store for a box when we're out.
