Love it! Have always wanted one.

So, just how impractical are they, really? Can they be driven regularly? Can you get on a highway with one? Are they reasonably easy to park? How tall are they usually? Impossible to garage?

Do want!!!

Nice toy, could have used it here in Michigan - we got 14.1 inches of snow on Super Bowl Sunday.

Note: no cab on my truck, that's snow!

Sweet, great weather for working on it too.

Here's a sweet looking one... Mercedes Benz Other Unimog Military Fire Brush Pumper Vehicle | eBay

Equally curious. The tires don't look highway friendly.

Those tires are designed for rolling over the broken bodies of zombies, and for added traction when pushing a Prius out of the way.

Shaun @ Tru6 02-03-2015 06:26 AM

I thought more for crushing Prius'.

I hear changing a track is pretty time consuming as well. You could fill it with Jet A at the airport though.

Hard to fit in the garage too, unless you cut a hole in the garage wall into the living room to make room for the barrel. Nice conversation piece when people come over.

Cashflyer, here's your Prius work truck. Functional, and sexy.

Nice score, and looking forward to hearing more about it as you learn, too.

Last summer I was out for a run and passed this about a mile from mi casa.
Same house, one on each end.

Wow, really want.

I alternate between a deuce and a unimog, of course I need neither.

From reading the ad, I can tell the seller doesn't know ***** about unimogs

widebody911 02-04-2015 01:27 PM

I have brake parts and some other tune-up goodies on order, just sitting on my hands waiting for now. I've driven it around the block a couple of times, but it's a bit "interesting" with the weak brakes.

sammyg2 02-04-2015 01:58 PM

LOL, 24 speed. Simple!

I wish I knew more about them, the gearing and drivability, etc
The firetruck pictured above says top speed is 40mph!

This one is for sale in VA.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd love a super cool tow vehicle/project truck, and there are some great trails and fire roads in the mountains an hour from here…But if it doesn't do freeway speeds it just wouldn't work.

Well, this is all Tom's fault. I have been talking to a few people the last couple of days because ["really, really want" racoon goes here]

From what I've been told, the 404 is a gas burner. Almost all were, except for a very small number that were spec'd as diesel by the end user. Like, so few, you will never find one.

Also, was told that none were ever built to go interstate speed. That 60 is really pushing it hard, and that the trans will not take that for too long. Realistically, they said, it is a 50mph top end.

Anyway, that's what I was told.

Here is a DoKa firetruck on ebay - for $63k :eek:
