Benedict Cumberbatch is an awful actor
Typical over-dramatic british crap.
Love the newer Star Trek films but that guy just craps up the one he's in. Severely. I won't even go into the ruination he spreads all over the Sherlock series.

We actually liked his Khan so much I want them to do a movie with him as the main character/story line.
The Sherlock series, he's what makes it. To each his own.

Well. I beg to differ. He was fantastic in The Imitation Game.
However, I'm pretty sure you know more than the movie critics that have nominated him ....... |

I was listening to a story on NPR recently, one of the things that caught my ear, Hollywood people would rather work with British actors. They aren't anywhere near the primadonnas that American actors are, they show up on time and sober, they know their lines, they don't have long lists of demands for themselves or their entourage - in other words they act professional.
As for Benedict, well, I'm not the audience for either Sherlock or Star Trek. |

We liked him in ST. The missus is a hard core Mystery fan. Her favorite Sherlock is Basil Rathbone. But we both love the new series. Sherlock and Watson are great. I'd like to see a couple of his other movies.

Oh, I beg to differ BIG TIME. He should get best actor this year, the movie should get BEST movie this year, the movie should get BEST director this year. I can't convey the greatness this movie had on me this year. The story it told is so amazing that all should see it.

Oh I love the Start Trek movie.
Just despise every second of his parts in it. Robert Downey Jr was 10x's the Sherlock IMO. I just have zero taste for the overacting drama queen stuff. it's never appropriate for the scene (always at least two steps too far) and there is just a constant 'posing' going on. I thought both the Spock and Kirk characters were very well done. Bones was average.

He's a stage actor- dramatic and bold, not a screen actor, a bit toned down
I liked him as Khan, he's got talent it's just in the wrong medium.

And as I said, completely not appropriate for the scenes...or better stated..the medium. Put him on a stage where the audience 1000' away needs the acting to be overdone to feel the emotions since they can't see it up close. But don't put him on film. So i'll amend my initial comment to 'He is an awful film actor'

I liked him in Trek, I just wish the new Kirk had the same evil attitude the old one did.
You pissed off the old Kirk, he'd get / undermine you. rjp

The guy is clearly a good actor. The Imitation Game and Sherlock are wonderful.
Star Trek into Darkness f***ing sucked. Period. Horrible writing. Park the Enterprise in the ocean... um ok, WHY? Its not Star Wars. You cannot top this guy, ever: ![]()

I really like the Sherlock series he's in.
And as for over the top acting, you can't say that Ricardo Corinthian Leather isn't. I don't like boring acting I guess. |

Very much enjoyed him as the monster in the London theaters production of Frankenstein. Excellent stage actor indeed.

Me too. What's the other trend towards a sci-fi movie, ??? I just just have to say this is a best movie of the year, IMO. He is a very good actor.

I like him, especially in Sherlock. He specializes in the tortured genius. Just wondering, berettafan, have you seen Imitation Game? If not, you should. Hopefully, you will like his acting in that movie.
