Altoids Tin Emergency Kit For Modern Life

I have a few empty Altoids tins here.

These are metal, 9.2 cm x 5.7 cm x2.0 cm inside dimensions, sturdy, not waterproof.

I'm thinking of building a complete of "Altoids Tin Emergency Kits" for my kids, wife and me.

The thing is, these wouldn't be kits meant to save your butt in the mountains. These would be kits meant for the misadventures of the modern urban dweller.

On a trip to another city, your bag is stolen. On a dark night, your ride goes missing, your phone battery is flat. In a hotel, you start feeling ill.

What can you fit in 3.6" x 2.2" x 0.8" that would help you in life's little jams like this?

So like:
- lipstick style backup battery
- short phone charge cable
- $100 cash
- 2 x cold/flu gelcap, 2 x Tylenol, 2 x Vicodin

Something like that? Hmm, not finding a battery < 3.6" long and <0.8" thick.

I keep a similar kit with me. In addition to much of what has been mentioned, mine also includes Imodium, Benadryl, ear plugs, expired drivers license (just because I had it), micro flashlight.

Knife, mini LED lite, money in smaller bills. In an emergency no one can break a $100 bill. You'd have the CC in your wallet, which in an earthquake may not work. Condoms aren't a bad idea, especially for the females, if they run out of cash.

all the things fit into an Altoids case:

- Crazy Glue (good for sealing wounds and fixing small pieces)
- Bic lighter
- small swiss army knife (trade show swag)
- Small Tweezers (great for all sorts of reasons)
- dental floss
- Razor Blade (old style, single edge)
- needle / thread (kind the hotels give)
- a few paper clips (they really come in handy)
- (5) $20 bills (paper clips hold them)
- a few Coated Aspirin (coated ones last longer then regular ones - if they smell like vinegar they have oxidized, the coated ones won't oxidize as fast)
- a few Benedryl Caplets (good for allergies or bad reactions
- a few Peptobismol tablets
- a few salt packets
- a few disinfectant wipes
- expired drivers license / copy of insurance
- a few business cards (gives you a legitimacy for some reason)
- pics of kids / family (laminated)
- piece of paper with important phone numbers and addresses (docs / lawyer / fam / friend)
- and a few mints...(Altoids of course)
Have these and your all set!

Lubey has a pretty good list

Benadryl is a handy thing to have, as is a needle and some dental floss. I used keep suture and stuff in a little kit with instruments in a little peel pack thing, when I was rolling around in BFE Texas. Only time I ever used that crap was on my brother in law, a couple of times actually, well one time a friend's kid, but I had to go get the stuff that time, because I had just stitched my brother in law up the day before.

Version 1 for my college kid daughter. Micro Leatherman, AAA battery Mag Lite, paperclip, safety pin, single edge razor blade (taped to lid), pencil stub, toothpicks, bottle opener, match striker (taped to lid), six storm matches. Okay, kind of random. Just a first try.

One other item I forgot... I keep all of the pills in one of those small travel sized pill bottles. Around that I have wrapped several layers of duct tape.

You know they changed that line from Dallas to Vegas because Mr Kennedy had just gotten shot.
