There is not enough money in the world to get me to live in some of these places, and I love my family, but if they wanted me to stay in a place like that I'd disown them. No way in hell!

I hear Ithaca has opted out.

Holy snow!
A cold snap today almost made me put on pants. But I rallied! |
Beach was pretty deserted the other day, but you could see Catalina so it wasn't all that bad.

Low minus 28. Wind chill minus 39

It only took 10 years for the last Ice Age to develop. I'd say we're in year 2 this time around.

I think this is 2nd time in recent history Niagara falls has frozen over.

I'm beginning to wonder if global warming was some kind of money-making, 'revenue' creating ruse created by a frustrated politician.

I hardly think you can measure climate change by a seasons temperature, or even several seasons .
I do believe that was called a weather report. |
I didn't know these were Fox News or ignorant right-wing news articles on the web. Thanks for pointing that out, speeder. And yes it was cold at my house yesterday and is still cold today.
Latest Surge of Arctic Air to Freeze Eastern Half of US Two cold winters in a row create near-record ice cover on Lake Ontario | syracuse.com "We have two to three more weeks to build more ice," he said. "I've never seen this much ice on Lake Ontario in 20 years of watching." Dave Nicosia, National Weather Service |
Can't really complain. Lots of frozen pipe to fix! Hopefully it gets colder;) It shoud be 2° here tonight.

It's -9 where I am right now. Winters have been colder than average in much of North America lately. Imagine how much hotter it has to be the rest of the year to raise the average temp as much as it's been going up?

I'll buy into climate change science from possible global warming, but that doesn't mean the temperature is always warmer....it's an average throughout the year. What it means, is that every weather event is more extreme, harder rain, deeper snow, colder arctic blasts, hotter summer droughts.
There are alot of scientist who rely on that public fear factor to keep thier funding solvent, so the media reports it when these weather events happen (hell, now they name snowstorms) because it's good business keeping the public afraid. |
A few years ago, the Great Lakes were at their lowest levels in 100 years with that particular summer being the hottest on record in Michigan. Now the lakes levels are above average and we've had two near record cold winters in a row and a near record cold summer in between. Also, parts of the Great Lakes stayed frozen longer than ever recorded last summer.
The temps and levels of the Great Lakes has a profound impact on the entire eastern 1/2 of the US. For discussion purposes, that is approaching continental dimensions. I've often thought of it as if the the arctic climate slipped southward and to the east. If the Lakes stay cold as they did last year (which was about 10 degrees below normal) we may have some years not very far off in the future without summer! It's happened before. |
My theory is, - if we have another ice age it will happen over night.
I am more concerned about it then the global warming part. It does not take a genius to see how stuff works. |
High of 2 degrees(maybe) today. Wind chills are -20 to 30 below.
Schools are closed today and possibly tomorrow. yay |
Storm is over and the snow is almost gone, hardly more than 6 ft or so in my yard.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1424370573.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1424370623.jpg
