Small Backyards With Pool?
I want to start by saying that many years ago someone posted a gorgeous backyard with a pool. The yard was small but it all worked. Does anyone have that pic or remember who it was? I'm looking at a house with a tiny backyard but I'd like to build in a little pool. Any pics would be helpful.

there are many homes up in the hilly section of los angeles I have work on that has almost no yard but the managed to squeeze in a pool. Some are done very nicely.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1423966630.jpg

My suggestion would be to somehow find a small place to install an outdoor shower and a place to change so your guest or kids don't have to track all kind of crap into the house and use the main bath. We've done lot of those. Simple and not a lot of money to do

We don't want that here. All or none. |
That one is 9ft deep in the middle.
The diving platform is off the waterfall between the fire pits. |
A pool can go in almost anywhere. Just make sure to leave enough lounging on the deck room and keep the foliage low and simple. Overhanging trees shade the pool reducing the water temp and always seem to be dumping stuff in.

Wow these are some nice pools! I've gotta keep the wife away from this thread; she's already been bugging me about when we're going to get one.

[QUOTE=mattdavis11;8487662]The one thing that pisses me off, is that the pool is too shallow for any kid to have the fun they deserve. There's no diving board, no slide, no cannon balling from the roof.
At least in Florida- try to get a diving board installed. No one will do it. I needed to replace a diving board, it had just gotten old. I called at least 10 pool installers- no one would touch it. I talked to the distributor that sold the diving boards- he knew of no one that would install it. Slides are even worse. I ended up installing it myself. Sad world we live in. Gary |
Some nice examples. One consideration I've come across that one needs to have with pools on smaller sites is how to integrate the pool with any landscaping (existing or planned). Leaves and mulch / dirt / stones in close proximity to the pool create a maintenance nightmare, especially in climates where deciduous trees drop their leaves annually. Roots can and will seek the water and can destroy a pool if the wrong type of plants are too close. Just a couple of things to consider. As a rule of thumb I'd use whatever the length of the pool is and plan on a hardscaped deck at least that wide around the perimeter (no trees or other non-controlled planters, etc. in that area).
Buy the biggest and best filtration system you can. Always. Don't skimp. Use concrete and tile, no vinyl liners (total garbage). And make sure to get a cover and installed the anchor points securely in the concrete slab of the deck so they don't pull out. Good luck! |
Another one of my projects....a local day spa.....

The waterfall is very popular - it falls into a mineral pool.....

Baz were those seats in the pool by the bar built in, or like those drop in ones? Are those any good or do they look bad in person?
|
Brian - they were poured into forms before the pool was finished. They work great, especially when occupied by large chested bikini-clad females.....wink wink.....
