Yeah, they're great dogs. Ours is almost 10 but acts the same as he did at age 2 or 3. The shedding is a bit much, but on the bright side we have all the more reason to stay on top of vacuuming.

Our old Dachshund would flap her ears as a way to tell us where she was. Rather than barking or whining if she walked up next to the couch she would flap flap flap and that was the signal for my wife to pick her up and put her on the couch on in your lap. No doubt she would do it as a signal it was not because her ears were infected.
