Didn't go to the site because don't know that much about it.

Could be a wood gasifier like some countries used during the gas shortage of WWII.

So smoke is flame able?
I noticed that the car didn't have a smoke cloud from the burner, It all goes into the car engine compartment.

smoke is a fine particulate that is typically very flammable.
