Les Miserables?

okay. i dont care if i get flamed for being..well "flaming".

one of my first serious dates with my now wife was going to see this show live. i've seen it before, and it might have been my wife's third time. (i didnt know, i thought i was being very original).

anyone else? the show that came through San Francisco had hot chicks in the main parts. and they could sing!!

i dig the story, although i doubt i'll ever bust out the Hugo novel.

i ask because my wife put on the musical CD this weekend, and i keep finding myself whistling show tunes. haha.

anyone else seen and like this show?

It has been over 15 years since the ms bivenator and I saw it. It was quite good and the to this day remains one of my favorites in musical theatre.

We even named a rescue cat Le Mis because of here tattered appearance.

Haven't seen Les Mis but it happens to me all the time with Phantom of the Opera.
Saw it live with Michael Crawford in Costa Mesa a few years back. Got the CD, and have it on my iPod too. Love to crank it up and sing along on long drives.

I took a woman I was in a torrid-infatuation relationship with to Miss Saigon years ago. It did not help things get to the next level and I have never been back to see a musical. Maybe I played the flaming card too soon?

Eponine's "On My Own" solo always made me cry like a little schoolgirl... I will turn in my man card once I find it in my murse...

I'm not a big Broadway person, but Les Mis I have seen a couple of times. Recently, I saw "The Last Ship" on Broadway when Sting was performing. I must say - Last Ship is now my second favorite Broadway show.

Both Les Mis and The Last Ship have a gritty and dark feel to them - just the way I like my Broadway plays (and Science Fiction) served up!

I watched the movie version. To steal a line from a forum member, I would rather have my balls pounded flat with a ball peen hammer than have to sit through that again. It was excruciating, and this coming from a guy who watches TMC all the time (even the musicals).

I thought it was ok but not great. My son really liked it and I have a friend who's seen it several times and loves it. I saw 'Once' last Friday night and really liked it. Quite a different take on most Broadway shows and gets a thumbs up from me

I've seen it several times. And... the movie is NOT the same as the stage version. Not even close.

Confrontation between Inspector Javert and Jean Valjean is awesome... very manly.

Is it "flaming" to go to and enjoy opera/symphony/musicals/broadways?

Damned, I hope not. That would mean that I'm pretty damned..."flaming" with my opera season tickets and at least 3 extra musicals a year.

I guess that Bugs Bunny was pretty "flaming" as well then. Madame Butterfly would make the hardest of you weep.

Seen it three times. The best was when it first came to SF. Very good!

I saw it when I was visiting NYC about 15 years ago. I was by myself, so it was a strange feeling going to a play alone. It was great, I enjoyed it but not sure if I would spend the money to do it again, but its a must do with my kids when they get a little older.

Yes I have seen it twice...bigger and better one in Toronto many years ago and the second time was in Spokane..but both were fantastic.

Les Mis is my all time favorite. The music alone is amazing, but then you add the amazing stories and it makes it exponentially better.

And I also saw Phantom with Crawford... but that was more than a few years ago!

Saw it on stage in Los Angeles. Great stuff. It's a compelling story.

Have not seen the movie yet.

La Boheme is a favorite. Went to see Tristan & Isolde and Hawking was in attendance(!) Crawford/Phantom left me cold. [I prefer Phantom of the Paradise]

Best musical if any of should see it come thru a city near you: Big River , the one performed in American Sign Language. Friggen amazing. They had a person shadowing each actor, dressed the same doing the singing. Best show ever! Story of huck Finn.

I didn't know you were an Opera season ticket holder. My girlfriend works for the HGO so we go to several a year.

I have Broadway Series season tickets. I don't think it makes me "flaming," but maybe a little metro

Totally missed it. Although, that's because i wouldn't be caught dead in a ballet discussion. Buncha pansies in there.
