Another horrendous storm

What are we doing wrong on the east coast? Another weekend storm dumped enough snow to last till next year.

Enough is enough!

Trying not to take anymore snow bank pictures, except this one in my back yard.

Dennis,

I feel your pain my friend.
Although we only got about 10 cm here in the western end of the Valley, it drifted and packed. I was four and a half hours yesterday with the tractor and blower. In some places it had blown and packed to the point where the tractor (30 hp New Holland) would simply drive up onto the drifts. The blower wouldn't touch it, so you'd have to break it up before it could be blown out.
If this keeps up, by July there'll be no place to put the snow. ;)

Oh and there's a call for another 15 - 20 cm tomorrow night and Wednesday.

A couple of winters ago, I had the Miata out several times, when the rain washed the salt off thwe rroads. This winter I'd have to dig the drift away from the garage door to get it out of there.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Spring.
Best
Les

Thanks, we'll get through it I guess.

jhynesrockmtn 03-17-2015 06:33 AM

I feel for you but not sure what's worse. Out in Washington, we had virtually no snow, no winter sports and ski resorts have been suffering through, opening/closing, etc. Our snow pack for water is virtually nil. It's been nice for working outside 2 months before we should be able to but we'll pay for it later and I feel for folks who love skiing or make their living in the ski industry.

Here in NW Ohio, we are down to just the parking lot piles of brown snow. The water line is still frozen to my new barn, and the ice is still covering all local ponds. We need several days of warm sunshine.

Well if you guys would quit sinning :)

Well I've been thinking 'bout that. I don't go to church as often as I should (never), and I
say Porsche as one syllable. So those are mortal sins; and then a whole lot of lesser sins, so.....you could be right.

Just one more snow picture. That`s a big house, and it`s not on a hill.

How it should look in the summer, if it hasn't been cancelled.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1426608945.jpg

Doesn't seem that long age you were enjoying a late mild fall driving your hot rod around. Things sure have changed.

Hope a thaw comes soon!

Hang in there.

Sad but true, the East has gotten all or most of our snow from the PNW.

Tulips are blooming here, snow is gone for the most part. Stevens Pass Ski Area which gets a average 400 inches of snow per yr got about 160 inches this yr, it is already closed for the season.

Feb. was a great month for sailing, skiing was so-so.

TheMentat 03-17-2015 08:36 AM

Seems crazy... I know this is going to sound douchey, but we've had the exact opposite over here.

We in Greater Vancouver (and presumably the PNW) have had a crazy mild winter/spring. Shorts & t-shirts in February. Got the P-Car back on the road 3 months earlier than I normally do, and should have done it earlier! Horrible for the skiers out here though...

I'm working on getting off the east coast - FL, GA, SC, NC and VA excepted. More likely I'll end up far, far away from here in the next few months in a way better place (and no, it's not CA - it's way better). I'd love to say more but things aren't official yet. Suffice to say I'll never deal with snow or sub-freezing temps (except maybe at high altitude) ever again if this comes through. :) :) :)

New England and the northeast can suck it. Especially after this last few months. I'm done.

GWN7 03-17-2015 09:52 AM

Hold on to your shovels, it looks like Mother Nature is not done with you yet. At least according to the talking heads.

News - Yet another storm sets its sights on Atlantic Canada - The Weather Network

15-30cm more........

flatbutt 03-17-2015 01:29 PM

That sucks guys. We are finally thawing out down here. The garden is still covered but the ice on the pond id no longer safe and temps are in the upper 30s F every day with a fairly bright sun. YAY!

pete3799 03-17-2015 01:55 PM

Finally could see a small patch of bare ground yesterday.............it's all white again today.

DanielDudley 03-17-2015 03:09 PM

I was thinking about you. It's a tough thing, this late in the season.

oldE 03-18-2015 02:07 AM

Aaand this morning, we arise to another 15 cm (6") of the white stuff and enough wind to push it into any space which might have been shoveled or blown out on Monday.
I'm off to shovel out the barn doors.
Sigh.

We're getting it too. Maybe this will start to wind down this week. Hang in there.

Please send some of that to the west. You guys are having all the fun lately and Calif is dry dry dry. I have noticed all the East coast global warming advocates have been awfully quiet lately.

Send some reefer trucks we'll load each and every one with nice wet/cold snow. All you want.
