Vibration when coasting

Does anyone have any idea why when coasting in my 01 tacoma 4x4 I get a weird vibration that I don't feel when the truck is under a load.
I am really at a loss on this.

Rear end, how many miles on the taco?

Pinion bearing?

The whole truck vibrate or is it coming from the front or rear?
Check for a bad u joint.

Replaced the rear end two years ago. Less than ten thousand since replacement.
The truck has around 160,000 miles.

I thought u joint also, but there isn't any noise or vibration when I accelerate or decelerate.
I can' t tell if it's front or rear. It seems to be the entire truck. It's not a huge vibration but it is noticeable.

Does it have a 2 piece driveshaft? If so, the carrier bearing may be hosed.

Sounds like a u-joint to me.

Two piece drive shaft. I will check the carrier bearing. Thanks all

Tire(s)?

LWJ 03-17-2015 08:32 PM

Muffler bearing.

Coasting uphill or downhill?

2nd the ujoint diagnosis.

Under load the ujoint will have no free play. No noise.

My F250 4x4 does this if I leave the Warn manual hubs locked in on dry pavement. A slight, but noticable vibration.

Wait!

Maybe your wife had the vibrator seats installed and forgot to tell you!

Bugsinrugs 03-18-2015 07:07 AM

It only vibrates when she is coasting. Errr I mean when I am coasting.

When you're coasting is exactly when the vibrator is needed!

A Rear tire out of balance can also vibrate the car while coasting

Bugsinrugs 03-20-2015 12:16 PM

Tires to be rebalanced to hopefully eliminate the bad vibe
