Peace Through Strength

I'd never heard of this guy, but I like his style... this is something a bud shared on FB... I added some paragraph breaks to improve readability... enjoy:

The Attitude Says It All:

I was driving down a four lane road in our town and was cut off by a group of dark skinned men in an old Toyota Corolla, windows down and as they continued down the road in the same lane as I was I observed their behaviors having already barely escaped their driving prowess. As they passed each white person they gave them the finger and each white woman they drove past they jeered and called lewd and suggestive things out to them.

I continued to follow them just in case they decided in their arrogance to do something physical to an innocent bystander. As luck would have it they pulled into a gas station to get gas. They continued to speak loudly in a foreign language as I pulled up to the pump behind them. I was quite concerned that they might attempt something abusive against someone not capable of defending themselves.

I turned on my GoPro which usually now sits atop my helmet when I am on my motorcycle/scooter or trike. I placed it on the dashboard of my Lexus SUV and got a great broad screen picture of them and turned the volume up to capture the awful abusive stuff that was now directed at me. Some folks just don't know that old saying, "Never judge a book by its cover". Having looked like a homeless man in a number of commercials and movies I certainly know how to play the role (never from a Lexus stage however), but I meandered out of the vehicle and started pumping gas.

It wasn't long before one of the middle eastern looking men came over to me. I walked around the front of my vehicle putting me in direct line with the car in front of me and proceeded to wash the windows of the SUV. I think they might have gotten the impression that I was deaf as indicated by the increase in volume and the exit of the two other men from the vehicle.

What these folks must have been seeing in their minds was a bent over old man barely able to operate the squeegee and clean his windows. I knew where this was going and of course had a weapon in my hand (the squeegee) and another in my pocket, which I happen to always carry. You never know when a roll of quarters in a sock might come in handy in paying a bill, making change or making someones day a little less bright.

As I walked around the front of the vehicle to top up the tank as the automatic hold on the pump had clicked off, I was pushed into the front of my car by the man closest to me. I had a narrow field of play with about 5 feet from the front of my vehicle and the rear of theirs.

The man who tried to push me onto my hood, took the squeegee full on the larynx. He dropped quickly and the first man in after him took my left foot to the side of his head allowing me to complete my spin to the right and use the trunk of their car as my launch point. The squeegee caught the next fellow in from what was now my left on his left knee and if you recall your anatomy lessons/sports injuries you will remember something called "the unhappy triad" - that being an injury to three major structures in the knee - the Anterior Cruciate Ligament, Medial Meniscus and Medial Collateral Ligament.

The scream from the first fellow, the second fellow was out cold, was now joined by the third fellow who unfortunately had a knee bending sideways under the car and no way for him to get up.

The fourth fellow had remained in the drivers seat of the car for this 35 second burst of energy from the old guy and was shocked to received the outpouring of gas that I let into his vehicle having taken the gas nozzle from their vehicle and directed it in his window and all over him. He scrambled to get out the other side of the car and that gave me time to give a baptism of gas on the fellow on the pavement leaning against the car trying to breathe, and the other two who were in so much pain they could not move away from this very Christian outpouring of Arabian sourced gasoline.

I walked over to the building where a rather surprised Sikh attendant was deciding whether to call the police or not. He recognized me as a regular customer and I told him that I would not be laying charges but that he should allow them to leave if they could and that I would pay for their gas. I suggested that if he went outside to help the 4 fellows, that he might let them know that there are many more "old guys" veterans of one service or another willing and able to kick their asses any time of the day or night.

I dreamed of Obama that night who deserves more than what these guys received. I went by the gas bar the next day and dropped in to see my regular attendant who introduced me proudly to his Father, who beamed at the introduction. Raj was showing his Father the security cameras video of the incident. I flinched at the shear violence of the event and swore that I would never be caught without a lighter again.

Sorry, but I think that was a pretty stupid move. Who does he think he is? The Lone Ranger? This could have backfired real quick...

Sounds like a script to a Chuck Norris movie and I wonder if this is not totally made up. Pouring gas into car windows?? Ok, not Chuck Norris, more Steven Segal... The "doctor" has got to be the fattest Rambo I ever saw...

Now he is probably going to get sued by these guys...

And who nominated this guy for a peace prize? In his dreams...

I read a bit on his FB. Liked this one:
"On Aug. 24, 2014, internationally-recognized educator and philanthropist Dr. Jim Garrow was falsely charged with several firearms violations, and now faces trial later this year."

Yea, sure it was falsely. He can afford a huge Harley, but needs money for the trial and wants others to pay for it? Well looks like he has found himself some saps...

He is like mother Theresa, just with a pump gun...

"internationally-recognized educator and philanthropist" So funny!

I was so intrigued by this obviously bogus story, I had to google this guy...

http://leavingalexjonestown.blogspot.de/2014/06/who-is-jim-garrow.html?m=1

or

http://www.guelphmercury.com/news-story/5677004-guelph-s-jim-garrow-seeking-help-in-his-legal-defence/

What scares the heck out of me is, all these brain dead followers on his FB account.

Are people really that blind to a total egomaniac?

I see nothing in the posts of his distractors that seem to contradict his story (other than opinion)...so I am not entirely convinced his story is more than a little exaggerated (and not entirely sure why some who were not there would attempt to refute his story). Crap happens all the time.

If he did as the OP posted...good on him. If not, he is a good storyteller. There certainly are a lot of old dudes who can and will kick the arse of someone who pushes them too far...and that of their panty waist friends when push comes to shove. I know some who post here that would not hesitate to (pimp slap) a punk...or several into next week if provoked. Sometimes that gets one into legal trouble. A small price to pay to be a man. Apparently, some were raised in a different world than others.

When an old dude pumping gas is looking for trouble...the problem is not with the old dude, but rather...society.

Sounds like a complete work of fiction.

And where does he live that he pumps "Arabian sourced gasoline" ?
Only 13% of crude oil used in America comes from Saudi, and only 20% from all Persian Gulf countries combined*.

And we do not import finished gasoline from Saudi since 2011*, afaik. In fact, Saudi does not have enough refining capacity to meet their own requirements and have been importing 60,000 barrels per day**. They are currently completing new refinery projects, though, and will stop importing in the next two years.

Possibly...but his lack of knowledge regarding the source of his gasoline does not make his story any less true or entertaining. I believe that most Americans still believe the middle east is the source of most oil. And oil refined in the U.S. might well still have originated elsewhere. Oil and gasoline are two different things. Even when we imported much of our oil, it was as crude, not gasoline, was it not? Saudi Arabia was among the top five source countries of U.S. petroleum imports in 2014 (along with Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, and Iraq).

I didn't see a date for the story in the OP. How do you know it was post 2011?

Stories are frequently more appealing when they have nothing to do with the truth. It is only when we tell such stories as the truth that it becomes objectionable.

I mean some people are so worried about the details of the story that they completely miss the point of the story. ..which is also the title: Peace Through Strength. Although, really, it seems more a story about situational awareness and preparedness.

It kind of reminds me of the story in Florida where some guy driving a convertible Cadi somehow offended a group of technical-spandex-clad cyclists ...which ganged up on him at a stop light, started hitting him with whatever for a while before some outsider started peeling the raging cyclists off the driver. ...and the drive said that happened just in time, because he felt, that because he was about to pass-out, that he would have had to pull the gun, which he had his hand on the whole time he was getting pummeled. (and start making a real mess of the technical-spandex-clad raging cyclists. - implied )

Yes... I mentioned both crude oil and finished gasoline. Saudi may be one of the top five sources of imported oil, but it is still a small percentage of the overall oil requirement in America. Only 13% of crude oil used in America comes from Saudi.

I don't, but even when we imported finished gasoline from Saudi, it peaked at around 750,000 barrels annually - not much considering the 3,260,000,000 billion barrels we use per year (.023%)
