de-carbon combustion chamber?
Is there a way to get the carbon out of the combustion chamber? My car sounds like rattling marbles when warm. I always hear a nice rattle after a low rpm shift. The car has all the normal stuff replaced and I run high octane fuel.
I've tried sucking berryman b-12 into the intake via the brake booster and it didn't do a thing. Is pulling the head the only real way to get rid of the carbon in the engine? Thx for the input! ![]() BMW M50 engine 145k miles.

Seafoam it. Naphtha.
Or pull the head off and bust it up by hand. You can carefully wire brush a piston top just don't hit the cylinder walls.

M50 Engine...Does it have VANOS? if so, it could be that.
Have you tried a good old Italian tuneup on it? |

Re-did VANOS already... Sounds like the best thing to do is keep doing intake treatments...

Run a gallon of denatured alcohol to 5 gallons gasoline. Drive like you stole it.

This is no doubt grossly out of date, but my dad & I used to clean out engines with water in the old days. We'd run it at 2K+ rpm's and dribble water down the carburetor until the engine almost died, let rev up again and repeat. Only problem for now days was that it produced huge, billowing, black clouds out the exhaust. The steam is what cleaned it out. Maybe wouldn't apply now days, but a really simple fix.

Very similar to the Seafoam through a vacuum line idea.
