This is a really neat old car. It really makes me appreciate how much cars have improved. I bet the average ultra economy car of today can make the run faster, a lot quieter, and with 100,000 times less pollution. Today's boring appliance car is a far cry from that snarling beast. It is cool that is survived but dang I am glad the streets are not filled with thousands of them.

for the uninitiated, like myself, here's some basics about the 28.5 litre four cylinder super car.

Yes.

This is seriously awesome.

EDIT: It's amazing...and when it required a seriously tough man to run a race.

It is indeed a beast. Steampunk mayhem.

Amazing to think that a modern standard Ford Mustang makes the same amount of HP from a 2.3L, and get good mileage doing it.

That is the coolest thing I think I have seen! Wicked!

I think that might replace a 60 F1 car on my ultimate never to have list...

We don't need no stinking exhaust... muffler? Pah!

Yup, 0.1724 hp per cube.

I couldn't imagine driving something like that on those tires in a race.

Edit: I guess that's how they get rid of mosquitoes at Goodwood?

That is the pinnacle of today's cars right, power per liter or c.i. Despite the fact that we're still using combustion driven air pumps to drive cars, the technology has refined aid pumps into dramatically more efficient things. in every sense

The antithesis of the Beast has got to be the new Fiesta ST motor.

I'm going to be a good neighbor since this will be a daily driver and put some pipes on. I'm expecting this will be very torquey, but I'm not going to install traction control. I will need great tires, though.

Serious huevos to drive that tall, top heavy torque monster on this ridiculous tires at what, 140 mph???

Can you imagine driving this at all in 1910? I just picture carriage horses bolting in panic and small children weeping in terror...
