I Dug 2 Graves Today

Wow....with all the Issues with my daughter in the hospital over the holidays and my wife and I rotating nights at the hospital and still non having Christmas yet, today, No this year sucks. 1 of our basenji had died over night. I found her in the dog house where she always would sleep. She was 14 years old and her mate turns 16 tomorrow. Now here is the issue, He has had several strokes and has had problems walking. He acts like a drunk. He would walk in right hand circles for several minutes at a time. He would then snap out of it and resume his happy life. As I was burying the female he had a major stroke and it was so sad to watch him. I call my wife who is at the hospital with my daughter Elissa. I talk to my wife about putting him down and Elissa says she has Christmas presents for the dogs and she wants to wait till she gets out of the hospital to put him down. Elissa wants to see him open his present. Tonight is my night at the hospital so today a somehow fount the strength to dig two graves side by side.

People never run out of love. They only give up on it because it is too painful.

Don't ever fall for that. Best wishes, and prayers for a better New Year.

It really hurts, Gary, I know.
Pups get their hooks in our hearts and that's the good news.
Then.............
~~~~~~~~
I had a leaking 4' deep concrete fish pond in my CA back yard that I had busted up and hauled away.
I knew my male Tibetan Terrier would not live much longer - 3 years on Chemo but off at that time.
So I didn't back fill the pond...when I put him down I dug a few feet into the bottom of that pond hole.
30 days later I buried my female TT just a foot deep right on top of my male...back filled.
.
One of those things....
Pet loss is so hurtful
Take care.
You dug two graves today, but you did it out of love. Love for the 4-legged members of your family. So sorry for your tough times. Wishing you a better 2016.
That's very unpleasant stuff to deal with, (I've done it), but imagine if your family did not have you to handle this tough business right now. You are the foundation for the whole production and you are performing beautifully. Sorry it's happening, though.
One way to look at it, (this helps me), is that when everything is going sideways, I just say "bring it on". Let it rain **** on me and get it over with because you know that these things always go in cycles if you're living right. Get this bad stuff out of the way so that the good times can begin again.
One year ago today, my dad had dropped dead suddenly in Minnesota after I'd just spent a month with him nursing him back to relative health after a stroke. He died 3 days before Christmas and I had to jump on a plane pronto. After the usual death arrangements and putting together a memorial, I then spent about a month in MN. clearing out his house. It was bitterly cold, (-20 windchill most nights), and I had the flu the whole time it seemed. Fun. I've lived in southern CA. for 30 years and don't usually visit during those months.
On Christmas Day this year, everyone was having a better time. I'll be in Europe this summer with my siblings and other friends. The other stuff happens, (life/death/etc.), you just need to power through it and get to the other side where happiness and fun is waiting for you. Best of luck and Happy New Year.
So very sorry to hear this, especially with everything else you're going through right now.
Just remember that is will get better....things will return to normal, and you will come out of it a better person.
For me, the thought of all you are dealing with is hitting very close to home, so rest assured that you are not alone, no matter how much you may feel that way.
Keep pushing forward....and the best for you and your family in 2016.
Sounds like it's time to start planning a family vacation. Your family deserves a nice one to put 2015 in the distant past. Here's to looking ahead!
