Color me stupid, but I don't understand what's so cool about the shirt or why someone would cough up $650 for it

I agree. It looks like it was drawn by a semi-talented 8 year old.

Different strokes for different folks.

Close your eyes and picture wearing it with a pair of RocketBuster boots. Now it's the coolest shirt ever!

Interesting back story............................................. this movie was loosely based on Robert Mitchum's own coming of age story, it was also his first directorial debut which he was unable to obtain capitol through the traditional Hollywood avenues. He really believed in it and ultimately financed it out of his own pocket. He wanted Elvis to play the part of his younger brother - to which he agreed! but the 'Colonel' had a found a better paying gig ................just prior to shooting. Under time and money issues his real life son played the part.

Critics and most movie goers panned it initially,.................. did not 'get' the Hillbilly music and all the attention to the cars. So the movie was relegated to the drive-in circuit......... which overnight became a huge cult classic even today.

Had to google "rocketbuster boots" - looks like something you'd find at the Houston Pride Parade
