That was one of the worst tragedies of human kind.

Of all the things man has made over the millennia 90% of it does not exist anymore. So when you see something from 25,000 years ago it is quite special to have survived for so long.

What you don't understand is that it is a voice from the distant past. That piece was imbued with a voice that speaks directly to you, by the hands that made it 25,000 years ago

everything that is made by men has a voice that speaks to you if you only listen.

Radioactive waste.

No. Styrofoam.

Looks like approx 233,000 years old. That's amazing!

Not a product of man, but north of San Francisco, there's a petrified forest of 2000 year old redwoods that were knocked down by a volcanic blast 250 million years ago...

Other stuff dating to Christ's time, doesn't really impress me. Hell, I'm over a half century old. I have stuff in boxes over a century old. I have motorcycles nearly a half century old. If it just sits there in my garage, I don't see why it can't last a couple thousand years.

I also saw the dead sea scrolls. Call me jaded, but I don't really see the big deal.

Now, when something is a quarter million years old... that gets my attention. Its amazing that there is so little stuff on earth that has survived a lousy couple thousand years. Everything destroyed in the name of religion. Don't wanna PARF this up, but really makes you think about things...

Yeah, I get the connection. You can get kinky and ride that ancient woman figurine and can ride the old motorcycle.

Anyways, its no big deal having something really old. We have some dinosaur bits, fossils, meteorites, and for sculptures.... large pieces of polished petrified wood.

Enjoy your adventures!

So I did a search and here she is: 35mm tall, 25 mm wide, from basalt local to the area, and formed using flint (tool???) Pretty amazing.

That was formed by tools?

Something I'm curious about is what they refer to as her "voluptuousness" Seems to me there probably weren't too many women or others for that matter, who would be able to enjoy that luxury a quarter of a million years ago. I'd imagine about 100% were faced with just getting enough food to stay alive. Maybe civilization was more advanced then than we think.

You guys give me way too much credit!

Looks like something I made when I was a mere Lad playing with my shyte. I was so proud of myself that I said, "LooK Ma what I did." Why she got so mad at me that she smaked me so hard on the side of the haid that I saw stars for a week. I guess she didn't appreciate my creative talent?
