Question Rolex Repair?

Submariner quit winding, won't start with shaking.

Repair places anyone can recommend? Don't mind shipping it insured to some place reputable.

How old is it? Has it been serviced regularly? Any trauma (I wore mine golfing, which wasn't smart)?

I wear mine all the time, golfing as well. What did golfing do to it?

It knocked some of the luminescent material out of the hour hand and knocked if off center so it rubbed the watch face at 6 o'clock. Probably from the shock of not hitting a ball cleanly.

Thanks, unfortunate but hopefully no internal damage. Anything they do to a Rilex ain't cheap. I have been told by RSC that they do need to get new lubricant every 5 years or so. If not they will perform inconsistently.

It got repaired and I did service it regularly. I've since become more of an Omega guy. Like James Bond...

There is a guy in greater Atlanta area that I just used twice.
Did my wife's datejust (stopped working shortly after changing date during daylight savings), and then my explorer II. He did each within 1week.
Mine keeps better time than it ever has. I check it daily against the time.gov site
He is also very reasonable.
George Shi. Shop goes by "GLS horsche".

I use the service center in San Francisco. He is a very cool dude. The old guy retired and the new guy dolled the place up.

Drive on up!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll drive it down to Beverly Hills later this week. 30 years old, its been cleaned and oiled a few times, not every five years, and not in the past by Rolex.

if you want to keep it original stay away from the RSC's as they may insist on changing dial and hands. at 30 years old you either have a 16800 or 168000

riddley is well regarded and so is rik dietel Time Care Inc. - The Watch Repair Experts!

Try these folks: Watch Repair | Watch Service Center | Govberg Watch Repair They provided one of the best retail experiences I have ever had.

I decided, when my Omega Seamaster was five years old to just keep wearing it and see how many more year I could go without service. Turns out the magic number was two.

I asked around and Govberg was recommended. The important thing for me was that they listened to what I wanted in terms of the watch exterior...I wanted it to retain a used look rather then be polished.

Everything was terrific, from the cost estimate to the web based tracking of the repair, etc. That was over three years ago. All is well.

Give them a call.

Strek Magdesian is the only guy I let touch my ancient Vacheron & Constantin. Great guy, and doesn't overcharge.

I use a local guy (Watch Tech) who has all of the certifications. Usually I take it in when it's not working. He keeps it going. I've had it for 15 years now, but it is early 1960's. Not technically a Rolex, but a Tudor.

Funny note: They put tiny tags inside the watch as to who has serviced it over the years. This guy asked me where I bought it. He apprenticed with one of the guys who had serviced the watch in the early 1980s.
