Microsoft Windows 10 Technical Preview

I have my new MacBook Pro running Parallels so I needed Windows. Felt like taking a chance, so I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview. I figure, it is running in a VM so I can wipe it out if I don't like it. So far, I like it. More than I expected.

I am a Windows curmudgeon. Stuck with 3.1, hated 95. Stuck with XP, hated Vista. Stuck with 7, didn't even try 8. But I'm cautiously okay with 10.

Admittedly I wouldn't mind returning to DOS, girls with big hair, and 5" floppies.

They had to pry 3.1 out of my hands at work because I didn't want that new fangled "MOUSE" thing.

Have had a copy of Win 8.1 on the shelf for a year and haven't installed it....

8 sucks donkey scroat

Girls with big hair are responsible for climate change.

Good to hear on 10.

Wife is doing her painting and wine girls thing tonight so may have to take a look at 10.

Let me know what you think. I didn't use 8 so have no frame of reference.

I prefer my girls without any floppy bits but to each their own... :p

You should leave it there...........or use it to shim your next wood working project install......trust me - it's soooooo bad

onewhippedpuppy 04-25-2015 12:12 PM

8 is horrendous, it can't get much worse.

LINUX is the next big thing... shhh... don't tell anybody!

And I have a 8" floppy pined to the board by my bench... take that!

Why do you hate Win 8 so much? I have no use for the tile menus, but you can run it like a 'classic' windows box. I think its pretty efficient. My primary laptop is a MacBook Pro, I'm certainly no MSFT fan boy, but I like 8.

I run Parallels and Win7 on my MBPro. No problems in 6 months.

Girs with 5" floppies?
LOL

7 was an excellent improvement.

8 stinks

10 hopefully will get it right.

BlueSkyJaunte 04-26-2015 10:08 AM

8/8.1 is horrible via the Metro interface. Using ClassicShell and running in desktop mode it's almost as tolerable as 7.0.

One good thing is that it boots up really fast--which is very helpful considering how often I need to reboot.

pcardude 04-26-2015 01:21 PM

Microsoft is doing some neat stuff lately!

biosurfer1 04-26-2015 01:44 PM

I'm guessing Windows 9 was so bad they scraped it before they even announced it? :)

Yes running Classic Shell is the ONLY way I can tolerate Windows 8. It should be a mandatory download lol...

Same here. But rather sad you have to install additional software to make the current version of Windows work like the prior version to make it tolerable.

I run window 8.1 in an office environment with touch screens; it's OK once you get used to the gui. Not had any problems. Kali Linux on a VM for the important stuff though :D
