Someone already mentioned and I agree. We're going to see a whole lot more of this and not specific to this case.

That small St. Louis burb made big news. The media dwelled on it and revelers soaked it up, connected by social media plus with major news outlets, more rodents arrived.

For matters of senseless public violence like this, AND against the liberties of freedom of speech, I would order the media shut out, pull the plugs on all social media connections. Too bad if everyone suffers for the short term. Until they can demonstrate in a peaceful manner, appropriately making a statement in their belief, that's fine. March on.

The cost associated with this behavior hits everyone. Insurance rates plus tax payers money is up in smoke.

Now what to do with the culprits. ABSOLUTELY no pass. Even for the most minor infraction, incarcerate for a minimum 2 years. Would hope the first year cool their heads. Then, an additional year in crews for rebuilding structures and property, work crews. They would be forced to work but returned to jail to finish sentence. Should they deviate from that, its 10 times the sentence - additional 20 years. At the very least we could get some cheap labor out of them.

shutting the media out is not the answer.

the press needs to do it's job and identify the soros funded anarchists that travel from crisis to crisis. they wear black hoodies and guy fawkes masks. they're the first ones to throw rocks.
for some reason reporters are reluctant to cover them.

I can't believe those three thugs are trying to steal that gentleman's purse.

bivenator 04-28-2015 11:41 AM

Great photo, the purse snatching rioter is wearing new shoes and a ralph lauren hoodie. Obviously he is part of the aggrieved and oppressed.

^^ LOL, but I'm also looking at the guy with his hands in his pockets seemingly minding his own biz but could only imagine what his thoughts are.

Perhaps had another crappy day at work and went for a beer. His mortgage underwater, behind on taxes, messed up and pregnant daughter by her meth head boyfriend, wife pigging out on bon-bons constant whining she needs to have a pearl white Cad. Escalade. and his lawn is a foot high. Just another day in a hell hole city, oblivious to the mayhem.

Whoever he is, I feel like sending a bottle of Jack.
Good day :D

Just flipped on the comedy news network CNN. Dumbo woman reporter, sloooowly talking, accentuating the atmosphere in Baltimore..... you can 'clearly' still smell the smoke! Oh dear me.

I'm dumbfounded watching media coverage of this event.

If you had your choice of:

a) watching a video of a police body cam showing a suspect getting beat up after he/she runs away from and/or resisting law enforcement

or

b) a nationwide campaign to educate individuals on the negative consequences that might arise from running away from and/or resisting law enforcement

.....which would you choose?

Funny thing about those photos:

This article

Witnesses In Photos Of Baltimore Protests Dispute MSM’s Version Of Events | The Free Thought Project

reports that the Lady "getting her purse stolen" was actually a drunk lady who was hanging out in the bar during the "protest" who went outside and started screaming at the "protesters" and flinging her bag around. The two women behind her were trying to keep her from attacking the fella with the bag.

And. . Yes, the fella who obviously was not a bartender. So, he ain't innocent either.

The media assertion being that there's a big black race riot when there's actually a big ethnically-diverse pile of a-holes.

Thanks for the clarifying post, Jeremy. That place is still a chithole full of dumbasses but even so I wonder if Johnny and June were still with us if we could have had a BIG OL' concert by the man in black.....instead of these pointless protests.....

I don't want to comment because I wasn't there and don't really know what went on (strange concept I know)...

However I feel safe in saying we are all WAY too trusting of the news reporting.

For instance whenever there is a quake in L.A. they make it sound like the city is in ruins when in reality we have maybe 5% damage.

Baltimore is a very interesting city in terms of variation from sheethole to penthouse...a bit like spending the night in a cheap hotel on Lombard and then complaining about San Francisco.

I went to graduate school at Johns Hopkins and still know a few folks who live in the city. Baltimore is a mixed bag but there are areas I love to this day.

Press conference just ended - 6 cops charged in homicide of Mr. Gray.

Good call - glad there will be consequences for LE not following proper protocol.

Baz 05-01-2015 07:10 AM

State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced this morning that her office has also found probable cause to pursue criminal charges in connection to the case.

Mosby announced a series of charges now facing the six police officers involved in putting Gray in custody and transporting him in the police wagon on the morning of April 12. The charges vary for each individual, but include several counts of manslaughter, second degree assault, misconduct in office, and false imprisonment among others. The most serious charge she listed was second degree depraved heart murder, which only one officer faces. A warrant has been issued for the police officer's arrest, Mosby said.

VincentVega 05-01-2015 07:13 AM

Charges and conviction are quite different, this thing has a long way to go.

bivenator 05-01-2015 07:26 AM

Wonder if the State Attorney may have overcharged, time will tell. One of the officers mentioned was a female and if I understood the report on the radio she was in a supervisory role and did not call for medical attention after checking Gray's well being during one of the stops on the way to the station. It was not clear what race she or some of the others charged are.

Crowbob 05-01-2015 07:27 AM

She pretty much had to charge them with something. The other two choices were no charges-case closed or to send it to a grand jury to determine if a crime was committed and ultimately be forced out of office.

These second and third choices were not open to her unless she was willing to defy the sentiment of the 'community'. It will be very difficult to convict with a charge of murder. She keeps the lid on for a little while longer, allows time to prepare the 'community' and to continue to declare justice will be done.

That's the system we have in place.

I think the whole situation is very sad.

In the year 2015 you'd think we would be a more civilized society.

Baz 05-01-2015 07:47 AM

Don't you think if they had simply secured (buckled) Gray up in the back of the van, everything would have turned out differently?
