Ok, maybe I was a bit over the top, but yeah, exactly, whether he precipitated the interaction or not, once he is in custody he deserved much, much better. Policing is a ridiculously hard job under the best of circumstances, but we as a people deserve better than this. And so do the 99.5 % of the cops out there, who are now painted with this brush.
Uphold the LAW. This isn't Silver City in 1880.
White, black, whatever. Listen to Charles Ramsey, the Philly commissioner some time on the subject of race relations and cops. I won't quote him here, but its pretty rational.
